AN: Yeah, so I'm not sure where this came from, but it's part of my drabble series. As usual, sorry in advance for any mistakes.
Prompt: Breaking the Rules
Word Count: 357
Disclaimer: Glances towards lawyers. And you're sure its not mine?
There are rules against this. Rules that have been set in place for the safety of officers and the civilians they protect.
Yeah, maybe the higher-ups let a lot of things slide, but this one they're adament about. No rookie/TO's, no partners. It's this way, because no matter how professional someone is, you can't promise to choose to save a stranger over a lover.
So why was a rookie tempted towards her TO?
McNally carries a lot of weight around at the station, but to you it means more. It means Mom leaving when you were 12, it means a drunk Dad that always gets your hopes up to disappoint you; it means choosing the wrong guy over and over until there's no way your heart can every be pieced back together. It means committment issues, intimacy issues, mommy-issues, and daddy-issues. You got the whole package. You keep promising yourself you'll never allow someone to get close enough to hurt you.
So why does it seem your world revolves around him?
Maybe at first you thought you could stick to your guns. Yeah, right. That thought went down the drain the second you tackled him to the ground. He irritates you, argues with you, insults you, forces you to do his paperwork; he jokes with you, cheers you up, makes you laugh, but most of all he has your back. He's taught you more than you thought you could ever learn, especially about coloring outside the lines. He's made you a better person, and a better cop. His kisses burn on your lips, his touch seared into your skin. He makes you burn and melt; he makes you feel a million different things at once.
It was easier when he was pissed you blew 8 months of undercover work and when you were proud of your first arrest. It was easier when you were rookie and he was your TO. Now you're more than that. You're the closest of friends.
So after everything that should have warned you away, why does he make you feel so good breaking the rules?
Definitely one of my shorter ones. I just thought that Andy is also thinking over everything. Please leave a review!
