Inspired by the song Bulletproofangel by the Goo Goo Dolls

"Angel, You're bulletproof, You're so high, You see the truth... Fuck." He'd hit a wrong note. Again. "Ugh! Why is this not working..." Theo stood up and put the guitar down, trying his hardest not to throw it against the wall.

He'd been planning this for months now. This was it. Him and her. How he'd finally ask. But of course, the notes weren't sounding right, and he couldn't figure out what was wrong. Maybe he'd have to ask Blaise again.

Blaise was the guitar guru. He'd picked it up during one of his travels through the United States and he hadn't put it down. Anytime he saw a guitar he'd pick it up and strum some tune.

Yes. He'd have to ask Blaise for help. If anyone could, it'd be him. Theo pulled out his phone and shot off a quick text.

Hey, Blaise. You around? I need help with something.

He waited a bit and got an answering ping from his phone.

Yeah, gimme a second, I'll be right there.

Five minutes later, Blaise apparated into the backyard where Theo was pacing, still trying his hardest not to smash the guitar.

"What's up lover boy?" Blaise chuckled. "Ooh, nice. A Kremona Solea Classical... This is a beauty." He picked it up and strummed a couple chords. "It's a little out of tune though, you mind?"

Theo nodded. "Go ahead. That was my question anyways. I'm trying to work on this song and it doesn't sound right."

"Mhmm..." Blaise had conjured a tuning fork and started working on the guitar. "What are you playing the guitar for?"

Theo stopped pacing and looked at Blaise. "Uh... Well, I figured... You know."

Blaise paused and looked up at him. "Really? You're finally going to ask her?"

"Well if I can ever get this stupid thing working, yeah that is the plan."

"It's about damn time! I mean, you two got together what, four years ago now? Haven't you done enough traveling around, commuting back and forth between two houses? Man, I got tired of that with Ginny after about six months!"

Theo laughed. "Yeah, but there's no way Molly would have let her move in with you six months in."

"Well, what Molly doesn't know won't kill her," Blaise replied with a wink. "Not like it matters anymore, pretty sure with that big belly people have figured out what we do behind closed doors." He held out the now tuned guitar to Theo. "Now, show me the song you were trying to play."

With a sigh, Theo grabbed the instrument and settled himself in a chair. "Bulletproofangel. By the Goo Goo Dolls."

Blaise nodded. "Okay, cool, but I need to hear the song to help you figure out what's wrong."

Theo began to play, quietly singing the words under his breath. He got to the middle of the first chorus when he had the same issue and stopped. "It just doesn't sound right. What am I doing wrong?"

Blaise shrugged. "I dunno. I don't recall ever hearing this song. Why'd you pick it?"

"If you saw the lyrics you'd understand."

"Okay, but if I don't see the music I won't be able to tell at all."

"Fine. But I'm not singing for you." Theo passed him the guitar and the printed out sheet of music.

Blaise quietly strummed along as he read the notes. "Here, this is your issue. You were switching to F before you're supposed to. It has to be a quicker switch, then a slower strum with the rhythm. Try it again."

Theo took the guitar back and played through again. This time, without mistakes. "Finally! I've been working on this for hours."

Blaise laughed. "Well, you should have called me sooner!"

"Want a beer now that we've figured that out?"

"Sure. But now you've got to tell me how you're planning on proposing to Luna."
