(Disclaimer: I don't own FMA. I don't really know how to name people, I just googled names from the 1920s.)

Amestris had problems. It was weird and violent. Dealing with security so close to the border, Ida knew that well. Still, this was the worst thing she'd seen so far. She sat inside, staring out at the gate into Amestris. She could see some of the citizens, lying against the pavement, where they'd been for a while.

They're still not moving, Ida thought. Are they . . . ?

Someone came up behind her. Glenn. He also worked here.

"Ida, what is it?"

Ida turned, but only partly, so she could still see Amestris. "I just saw a bunch of red lights come up from Amestris and everyone fell over. I think they're dead!"

Glenn didn't look nearly as concerned, but to be fair, he hadn't seen it. "I'm sure it's just-" he started.

He was cut off when something happened to the moon. It looked like a door opened, reaveling an eye. And something was rising up out of Amestris. It was huge, and black, with only one eye, but it had a sort of basic human shape. It began to pull the eye down. It sounded like it was saying something, but Ida couldn't make out the words.

Glenn apparently agreed. He opened the window.

"You have no choice but to be absorbed!"

Ida blinked a few times, though really she was past the point of shocked. Was that really what the figure had said? It sounded like it. As the figure and the eye met there was flash of light, and everything went back to normal, except for the fact that the Amestrians were still lying the streets.

Ida sat frozen, mouth open. She was aware there was an 'uh' sound coming out of it, but she didn't care. Glenn looked pretty shocked too now.

"I'm never going to Amestris," he decided.

Several minuets later everyone woke up again, but not before a lot of red things, different from the light earlier, flew across the sky. Ida couldn't help but be a little relieved. Awful country or not, she wasn't sure what she'd think if all of them were dead.

"I'm still never going to Amestris," Glenn said.
