'I mus'ent fall asleep' thought Inuyasha as he sat by the fire. Kagome was behind him, sleeping in he fabric she had called a 'sleeping bag'. They had been separated from Miroku and the others by a yokai and now, after defeating it, it was not too dark to even try to find the others. So they had settled down for he night and the bitter cold had covered them like a blanket.
Inuyasha was shaken out of his thought by whimpering and turned around to find Kagome curled up around herself omitting the sound.
Inuyasha scrambled towards her thinking she had been injured but after grabbing hre arm had discovered it to be shockingly cool.
Cursing at his stupidity, Inuyasha remembered normal humans felt cold much easier than he did. He gathered her, sleeping bag and all, into his arms and took her to the fire. He sat down and placed her on his lap, rubbing her arms trying to cause friction to warm her up.
Inuyasha shook Kagome, trying to wake her and almost sighed in relief when her eyes fluttered open.
"Inuyasha……I'm so cold……" Kagome whispered and one of her hands snaked out of the sleeping bag to weakly grip his red shirt thing.
"Shhh……it's going to be alright." Inuyasha said as he thought. 'If being close to the fire wasn't warming her then the only other thing he could think of was……..body heat'
He carefully slipped Kagome off of his lap and took of his rat-skin coat and shirt, convincing himself she would get warmer if she wore as much of his chothing as he could spare.
He carefully unzipped her sleeping bag and drew her out. He dressed her as he would a china doll and pushed the thought in his mind that said he looked incredibly cute in his clothes.
He slipped in the sleeping bag first then pulled her on top of him and zipped up the sleeping bag. It was an incredibly tight fit for the both of them bit it was undoubtedly warm for Kagome. Her eyes fluttered shut as she snuggled down further into Inuyasha's warmth.
Inuyasha flinched as Kagome's icy hands wandered across his hot skin to his neck where they buried themselves into his long hair. He then blushed slightly as his arms seemingly acted on their own accord as they wrapped themselves around Kagome's waist and drew her flush against his body.
Not that Kagome minded. She had drifted back off to sleep. Her lips unknowingly lightly kissed Inuyasha's right shoulder and his face went beet red.
The wind seemed to no longer howl outside the cave they had sheltered in as Inuyasha too drifted off into lala land. Not caring that they could be attacked at any minute. His last thoughts were of how beautiful the girl he was holding was and how he was going to tell her his secret.
His love of her.
(A/N sorry. I couldn't resist the lala lands bit. I actually managed to write something good (or by my standards it is). Obviously Inuyasha has realised his feelings for Kagome. And just for the record, I hate kikyo!)
