There has never been darkness darker than this. This is the sinking quicksand darkness that seems so slow yet it can swallow you whole. She keeps running; not quite sure which way to go. Not able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. If this was a tunnel anymore. When this adventure-and that is just putting it nicely- began she was in a shiny new Lotus Elise-shall she say the most awesome car in the world. It didn't seem like a nightmare at first, No, not at all like a nightmare-scratch that- dream at first. All she could feel was the adrenaline pumping through her veins and the ecstasy of feeling like she was flying. Then the tempo of the dream changed. She was no longer in that adrenaline filled aura. She was standing in front of a long dark tunnel with nowhere else to turn. Like she had been dropped into a maze and she was at a dead end. The only way she could go was forward. Terror had started to set in her throat, but adrenaline still barely lingered. She had always wandered what it would be like to get caught in a maze. Like a science mouse trying to find the chunk of cheese at the end. What would she find at the end? How would she get there? And could she survive long enough to find out?
The adrenaline that had been pumping through her veins just moments before were abruptly stopped. Chagrin filling its space. She began to run. Not knowing what she would find or what could happen. She just had the urge to move and move fast. She runs forward and seems to be swallowed by the darkness. She cant see there are no lights and she cant see the end. The further she runs the darker it gets. "Its just a dream," She tells her self. Her alarm will go off and she will awake. As the tunnel cuts deeper into the earth she becomes more terrified and disoriented.
Nothing but darkness comes. When will she wake from the slumber. She pinches herself yet she doesn't awake, but she feels the pain. Could she already be awake?
No, I can't be awake. She didn't remember waking. The only thing she remembered after going to sleep was that sensation of adrenaline and ecstasy from the speed of the car. She hadn't felt afraid or worried then. She hadn't bee aware of anyone or anything that would or could harm her body. As she thinks about the beginning of the nightmare she realizes something was off about it. She hadn't been driving!!! Yet she didn't remember anyone in the drivers seat. She had been the only one in the car(or so she thought at the time). That is why she had though tit was a dream.
She still continues to run. Still no view ahead, of any light or any sign of life. No sounds of anything coming or going. It was built for a single purpose. It cut deeper and deeper into the earth. The deeper it went it continuously decreased in temperature. It seemed to have been hours. She had no way of telling whether it was morning, day , or night. No, she would not see this up coming sunrise or sunset. She had to sense of time. She could only guesstimate. She realizes that she has slowed down to a crawl. At this point she starts to believe that this is no longer a dream.
Her breaths coming quicker now. Not sure how much longer she would last. Asking herself why she didn't follow her plan and eat something before she went to bed. Since she had skipped lunch and dinner. The only substantial mean she had had all day was the leftover pizza she had reheated for breakfast.
As hunger creeps in more and more potent, more and more lethal. She smells something through the darkness. It wasn't Mexican- OH, how she despised Mexican with all her heart and soul. It was a tantalizing twist between Italian and Chinese- OH, how she loved them both.
