Written for the OTP competition (Prompt: alarm clock)
Alarm Clock
"Ron, will you stop fussing?"
"I can't help it, Hermione, but I don't want to miss it."
"How could you? You've set three alarm clocks in this room alone. Not to mention the other four that have been charmed to go off thirty seconds apart from each other in the living room. Someone may think you had a habit of sleeping through alarms." Hermione said the last part drily.
Ron shrugged. "Hey, this is the first time the Cannons have made it to a final of any kind. And they did it without their top Keeper, too. I can't imagine them losing to the Woollongong Warriors, who've had a few close calls later in the competition. Especially against the Falcons just the other day. I mean, one more goal from the Falcons and it wouldn't have mattered if Mitchell caught the Snitch or not."
Hermione rolled her eyes.
"Don't be like that, Hermione. The kids will be getting up with me."
"Yeah, and you'll be dealing with their moods when they are too tired at ten o'clock tomorrow morning." Hermione laid down in the bed and rolled over. "It'll be nice, really, having a day of no children."
"You're not going to get up and listen to the final?" Ron asked.
"When have I ever shown any interest in Quidditch?" Hermione mumbled.
"Well, you bought tickets to the Harpies and Cannons last season, remember? For all four of us?"
"Ginny gave me the tickets for free. Besides, you and the kids love Quidditch, so I wanted to take you all."
"And you enjoyed it."
"Doesn't mean I'm waking up at three in the morning to listen to the game being played in Australia."
Ron shrugged indifferently. "Suit yourself. You'll miss out on a lot of fun."
Hermione rolled back over, smiling at Ron. "What I'll miss out on is you getting upset when the Cannons lose, and coming to bed in a bad mood, and then being grumpy all tomorrow. And don't forget, you also have to deal with the kids, as well."
"I'll be fine, Hermione," Ron said, finally lying down. "They won't lose."
Hermione smiled as she closed her eyes. "I hope not."
At three, the alarm clocks went off, and by three-thirty, Ron trudged back into bed, muttering about how Quidditch was stupid and how the Cannons Seeker couldn't do his job properly.
Hermione, who was awake, smiled to herself. The morning was going to be fun.
I hope you liked this light-hearted fic. I drew inspiration from my own tennis-watching habits haha.
