"Daddy?"

Anne called to her father as she lay in between both her parents, who were both sound asleep. When her father didnt answer, she turned to her head to her mother.

"Mommy?"

Buffys eyes fluttered open as she looked over at her three year old daughter. She stretched and reached a hand over to Anne, caressing her cheek softly.

"Whats wrong, baby?"

She looked at Annes face, noticing that she had been crying. Instinctively, she sat up.

"Anne. Whats wrong?"

She lifted Anne up and cradled her, hoping she'd tell her what was wrong. Anne sniffled, holding onto her mother.

"Mommy."

She cried.

"I had a bad dream."

Buffy held Anne closer, kissing her forehead. Anne recently started having nightmares about men with pointy teeth that go 'Poof', and Buffy took that as a sign.

"About what?"

"The pointy teeth men."

"Oh, I know. Its ok. Do you know why its going to be ok?"

Anne shook her head, wiping her left over tears away. Buffy smiled and stroked the hair away from her daughters face. She knew Anne had no clue Buffy was the slayer. And she wasnt so sure Angel wanted Anne to know about his past vampirism. Buffy knew she probably would never know her father was the Scourge of Europe, and since Angel had been human for the past four and a half years, he wouldnt bring it up anytime soon.

"Because mommy will always protect you. I love you, princess, and I wont ever let anything happen to you."

Buffy smiled and kissed the tip of Annes nose, making her smile. Anne knew she could trust her mother and father. She would be safe.

"Mommy?"

Anne asked softly. Buffy looked down at her three year old, and just at that moment, noticed that she looked exactly like her.

"What, princess?"

"I love you."

Buffy smiled and laid Anne down, then laid down next to her.

"I love you too, baby. Always remember that."
