Author's Note: Just a poem…you know who it's about.
little blond children
ribbons and red shoes, skylights and secrets
ice cream and bad dreams and cornflower hair
blue hats and baseballs, and endless reasons
greenhouses, treehouses, tension-filled stares
vigils and virgins, choices and chances
faces and spaces, truces and trains
Shakespeare and shyness, daydreams and dances
lovers and liars, regression and rain
journals and jump rope, Paris and platitudes
parents and poetry, spitballs and schemes
envy and enemies, scowls and bad attitudes
friendship when nothing is quite what it seems
little blond children are all the above is
little blond children, their song not yet sung
little blond children remind us what love is
little blond children who keep us all young
