In a world of sorcery and of fear,

of famine and of drought through the never ending year

This is where one of the mighty five kingdoms resides

It is Camelot, from it's lands to its tides.

The people of this kingdom, so hard at their work

are just trying to distract themselves from what they know lurk

within the walls of the kingdom so glorious and so proud

but magic needs to be heard and it is so very loud.

But observing it all from his tower to high

is his majesty, the new king who watches with a sigh

He is ready for the change that will allow his people to be free

but how is he to allow magic? If only he could see!

He turns to the friend that has been there the most

even if he doesn't realize that what is forbidden is so close

Merlin would give his life for his king

And he trusts in Arthur for what he is sure to bring.

The two of them know what is sure to come

and they know they must be the first to beat the war drum

They gather the army so loyal and brave

and they march towards the battlefield like a towering wave.

So clever as he approaches a border that needn't be crossed

Merlin sets off to find what had been lost

His magic so dear even if he must hide it

is needed for the sake of the kingdom so now he must find it.

The crystal cave allows him what he was looking for

and he uses it to stop the carnage and gore

The war is won with a bright future ahead

but the king is gone, almost nearly dead.

Merlin reveals the powers he has kept secret for so long

and attempts to use it on Arthur for he is nearly gone

The isle of Avalon will help heal what it must

as long as Merlin can still keep Arthur's trust.

The two make it there just before first hue

but Arthur knows it's to late, his last words to Merlin are "Thank you"

The Great Dragon circles with a flap of his wing

as Merlin says goodbye to the Once and Future King.
