Sir or Madam,
We are unsure of the reason why you were selected by our client, Mr. Black, to receive his unpublished final work, "Sonic: End of an Era". It was not a mistake, as Mr. Black, although quite elderly, had never had memory issues or any history of related mental health problems.
First, as per our recently-deceased client's instructions, we will tell you the little we know about him as well as his life until his death.
Sampson Leonidas Black, always known to everyone as "Sam" or, professionally, "Boogeyman" and "Ghost". He was a highly-decorated US Marine who served in the Mobius war, as part of a small unit sent to the planet of Mobius to assist the native population in overthrowing a tyrannical dictator by the name of Julian "Robotnik" Kintobor. While successful, Robotnik personally murdered most of his unit, including a blue Mobian hedgehog named Jules "Speedy Gonzales" Hedgehog, which angered Sam greatly. He vowed revenge on Robotnik before returning to Earth a war hero.
Most of the subsequent events were classified by the US Government and promptly redacted, until around a year ago, at which point Mr. Black began work on telling the story from a third person perspective without the facts and figures in the original reports. His previous, and critically acclaimed, novels as well as the films he produced, wrote, and directed, were fictionalized variations on the story, always in a different place, with major changes to the story, but always the same base narrative. Vengeance and anti-hero vs bastard villain.
But, even though his final novel is complete, Mr. Black passed away from lung cancer and heart disease at the age of 118, unable to publish the book.
But even at 118, with lung cancer and heart disease, Mr. Black still drove himself, still regularly played video games and airsoft, still went for long walks, still shot guns at a gun range, still flew around the world on vacation, still ate junk food, still smoked, still drank alcohol, and kept going as he "damn well saw fit" until he passed peacefully in his sleep, a hero and a fighter.
We here at Wallis & Peterson law offices hope you enjoy the story we have sent along with this letter of notification.
Signed,
Harry Wallis
