Short and sweet, enjoy :)
"Sir?"
"Yes Collins"
"Ah a Sergeant Harris just called, you are wanted down by the foreshore."
"Was someone murdered?"
"He didn't say Sir, just that you had better come quickly." Hugh paused, "He sounded quite desperate actually." The Inspector considered that Harris was generally a capable man (although newly transferred) and he really was getting sick of the every piling mountain of paperwork.
"Well then Collins, we had better be off to save Sergeant Harris from whatever is troubling him."
"Harris!"
He looked embarrassed, "Sorry Sir, this woman" he pointed to his left, "will not cooperate and insisted that she knew you, and that I call you." Harris looked unsure at this point, however the Inspectors expression lead him to believe that he did know the lady.
"Right"
He had always known this day was coming and stopped short, "Madam"
"Inspector" she drew out his title with some innocent blinking which under better circumstances would have made him smile.
"I don't want to hear it"
"But Jack"
"Why didn't you just do as you were asked?"
"I only told him" she glared at a tall man holding a brown cap in his hands, "that he should indicate before turning a corner that's all!" Jack was sure there was more to it than that but was not in the mood to argue, especially not with her.
"And what does he want?"
"Damage repairs"
"And you couldn't just pay that?"
"I didn't do anything damage, he did it to himself." He shut his eyes for a moment and gently shook his head at her trying to refrain from yelling. He knew as well as her that one day he wouldn't be around to save her, as much as she would not admit it.
"Come" They approached the man with the brown cap who was now yelling at Constable Collins with a passion.
"Collins" Hugh looked relieved and stepped away from the man slightly.
"Detective Inspector Robinson." The man nodded once his face still red, "Now I have spoken to this lady" he gestured toward Miss Fisher who smiled sweetly at the yelling man, although Jack could see the passion burning in her eyes, "She has agreed to pay damages and to apologise for her actions." A small noise of disagreement and satisfaction was sounded from both parties.
"She has also agreed to take the speeding ticket which will be issued to her" the man looked happier now and nodded his head at the Inspector. Jack could feel her glare burning into the side of his head and truly dreaded how he dearly he was going to pay for this, however she really needed to learn her lesson.
"Miss?"
She looked extremely calm as she turned to the man with the hat and gave him her most apologetic smile, "Sorry about the damage."
"Apology accepted." He suddenly seemed to notice how beautiful said lady was and gave her a shy smile before the Inspector spoke again.
"Constable Collins will take down your details and we will forward the address for payment for said damages."
"Thank- you Inspector." The man with the hat shook the Inspectors hand before following Constable Collins over to his car.
It was now that Inspector Robinson turned his full attention to Miss Fisher who was watching him.
"You are lucky I don't arrest you."
"You can't arrest me"
"Why not?"
"Because you're my…" she pouted struggling to find a suitable word to describe her relationship with Jack.
"Exactly. Now go home and try not to kill anyone on the way."
