"Are we there yet?"

"You promised me you wouldn't say that five minutes ago." Rex was at the wheel of the car.

Ahsoka smiled. "Isn't it a must that someone says 'are we there yet' on a road trip?"

"I'm more than happy to drop you off at a rest station and leave you there for you to hitchhike back all the way home."

She carefully leaned onto Rex shoulder. "Then who's gonna protect me from the big, bad bears?"

"Maybe they can adopt you and you can live with them as their dog."

She scoffed as she nudged his side. "That's mean…!"

Her boyfriend laughed. She found he was looking her way. "A very cute dog, if I do say so."

They both smiled. Despite the teasing banter, she knew that he was only coming out of a good place.

The sun was about to set. An hour more and they'd be at the next town, though why not stock and refuel at the gas station?

Walking up to the cashier, he pointed to the debt machine. "It's out of order, so we only take cash now."

Sighing, she placed the sandwiches, chips, and drinks back on the shelves. Perhaps they can get something at a nearby restaurant or when they were at the next town. Reaching into her pocket, she tried to figure out how much cash she had on her.

She had a total of two dollars and eighty-seven cents on her.

Barely enough for a meal for one. Maybe they could wait until they find something else along the highway, but at the moment, Ahsoka could go for anything. Walking through the aisles, she found herself in front of cups of instant noodles, ninety-nine cents each.

She laughed to herself. This had to be the cheapest date she had with Rex. Fortunately, there was a kettle to make hot wate the gas station had for her to make the noodles.

Once she got the steaming kettle, the cups of noodles, and the chopsticks, she went outside and saw Rex at the picnic bench.

"Their debt machine was broken, so they only took cash," Ahsoka chuckled. "Hope you don't mind noodles."

Rex chuckled back. "Noodles, heh? Why not."

As they slurp through their food, they both looked out into the mountainous regions. There was still snow on the mountain tops, the detail of the rocks and rubble could be seen so up closely. The sun was diving into the horizon, it was hiding in between the trees.

How could nature be this powerful and so majestic?

Ahsoka leaned into Rex.

At least she got to witness this all with him.
