The first time she ever laid eyes on him, he was covered in blood.
He stood on dozens of piled up corpses, eyes wide and focused intensely on her. She had lost interest in battle, in killing. When their swords met she felt bliss unlike any she had ever experienced before. Sparks flew between them, metal clashing with metal, as blood flew every which way. It was Heaven on Earth.
A shallow furrow marred his face
A deep hole sat in her sternum.
They both stood frozen in shock, both afraid she would die.
It was the first sin she ever cared for.
He approached like a thundercloud, tall and viscous. His sword was bare in the sunlight. Hundreds of Shinigami stood wide-eyed in silence at the audacity of the man.
To challenge the strongest swordsman of the Seireitei was a fool's errand.
The 9th Kenpachi towered over everyone present, his sharp eyes tracking the man's every movement. His hand rested on a large battle-ax.
"Well, let's get on with it then."
Both flew forwards at speeds to fast for most to track.
The 10th Kenpachi fell to the cheer of the crowd. Droplets of blood scattered like rain.
As the 11th Kenpachi stood victoriously, the 1st died a little inside.
An empty void loomed. Over and over again he faded, over and over again she brought him back. 1000 little deaths.
"When I fought you, I felt fear for the first time. I finally enjoyed a fight."
His eyes were wide and focused intensely on her.
"Am I gonna' die here? Unable to defeat you?"
Her sword came down.
He existed between consciousness and unconsciousness. An empty void loomed.
Slowly body and soul aligned. Sparks flew again. Metal clashed again. Blood splashed every which way.
She floated in the dark.
"Mi-na-zu-ki"
She held her sword aloft. Liquid red like blood, and just as thick, flowed from the blade. It ate away at the floor
They both screamed, swords clashing.
"You're the only man in the world that could make me happy. Farewell Zaraki Kenpachi."
An empty void loomed.
