Xander felt the darkness creep along his skin, it was worse than patrolling with Buffy, being alone like this was just unnerving.
He held his breath as he turned a corner, he expected a vampire to jump him at every turn, but so far he hadn't seen anything worth shooting. He'd been walking for at least a few miles, but he knew he wasn't even close to his destination.
"Xander?" A voice echoed through the cavern.
Xander lifted the crossbow, aiming it in the voice's direction. "Who's there?"
Angel appeared from the gloom, his ancient features reminded Xander of just how old he was.
"What are you doing here?" Angel wondered, his eyes never left Xander's crossbow.
"It's none of your concern, what are you doing here?" Xander asked, keeping his crossbow steady.
"That's one of your concern. Where's Buffy?"
"Flirting with the reason why I'm here," Xander said nonchalantly.
"I heard, his name is Matt right?"
"Yeah…he's a thorn in my side like all you vampires that roam around freely."
"Sorry I didn't know I was such a burden to you," Angel smirked.
Xander heaved a sigh and shouldered past Angel, not wanting to deal with the vampire's snide remarks.
"Where are you going?" Angel asked, coming up behind Xander.
"To find Spike, Matt said he was from a town called Mystic Falls, that's in Virginia, on the east coast, so, I thought to find a vampire, you gotta think like one, which is why I'm in these god forsaken tunnels."
Angel stared at him for what felt like hours before he finally said "You're crazier than I thought you were,"
"Like I haven't heard that before…" he rolled his eyes.
"Wait until Buffy finds you, she'll drag you back to Sunnydale…" Angel said, placing a hand on Xander's shoulder.
He shrugged Angel off, "You tell her, and your next breath will be your last," Xander dug the point of the stake in his crossbow just an inch into Angel's chest.
"What…" Angel gasped.
"If you tell Buffy, I will stake you." Xander jabbed the stake a little further into Angel's chest cavity. The vampire gasped, holding the trigger mechanism so Xander couldn't release.
"Fine, but if you die, then I'll personally haunt you for eternity." Angel sighed as Xander pulled the stake out, gasping as the wound repaired itself.
"I don't plan on dying anytime soon," Xander replied, a little more confidently then he felt. He walked away, leaving Angel in the darkness.
