Rio the series 2

Chapter 1 family and friends at the beach

A fantastic day in the jungle of Rio de Janeiro. It had been two days since the events of Nigel kidnapping Jewel but now it was all over, and they were back home, safe and sound. The Macaw kids just woken up and went outside of the hollow to play while Blu and Jewel were still sleeping.

Blu was the first to have woken up and noticed Jewel with him in each other's wings. He slowly wiggled his toes under Jewels toes, causing her to wake up giggling. "Morning beautiful."

"Morning handsome." Jewel also greeted, cuddling her head against Blu's chest.

"How did you sl-I mean how did you both sleep?" Blu asked, referring to Jewel and the unborn baby.

"We slept lovely, especially with you cuddling with me every night." Jewel smiled, before noticing there was no sign of her offspring anywhere. "Where are the kids?"

"We're out here Mommy!" Rey called from outside.

Jewel gave Blu a quick kiss on his big grey beak before getting out of her nest over to the hollow entrance/exit, and she smiled when she saw Rey, Azul, and Crystal standing on the ground. "Morning Mommy!" the kids greeted their mother simultaneously

"Morning kids." Jewel replied sweetly.

"Where's Dad?" Azul asked.

"Right here." Blu said hearing his eldest son calling for him. "I'm going to go breakfast.

Blu flapped his wings, taking flight into the sky and making his way over to the trees of fruits, "Look out!" but as he flew away, he accidentally flew into Rico, who was heading towards them.

"OW! Sorry." Blu and Rico apologized simultaneously.

"Oh hey Rico." Blu greeted, rubbing his head with his wing.

"Hey Blu." Rico replied, shaking his head to the side slightly and was completely caught off guard to notice three little macaws charging towards him

"Uncle Rico!" the baby Macaws yelled, flying directly to the Hawk that caused him to land.

"Hey kids!" Rico laughed, hugging them in return as they rubbed their heads against his stomach.

"Kids, you don't wanna hurt your Uncle Rico, do you?" Jewel said smiling, flying down to the ground to greet the hawk.

"No Mommy." the kids replied, letting go of their Uncle slowly.

"There are stronger than they look!" Rico admitted, brushing himself off from their little hug attack.

Jewel chuckled in response and moved towards him for a hug. She now treated Rico was one of her family after he had risked his life to help save her from certain death. "It's good to see you, Rico."

"You too, Jewel." Rico replied, returning the hug over to his blue macaw frined. "How's the baby doing?"

"It's doing great, about three weeks until it arrives." Jewel replied, leaning out from where hug where she began rubbing her stomach. "Wanna feel?"

"I good thanks." Rico simply replied, holding his wing out.

"Come on and feel! I don't mind, honest." Jewel tried to offer a second time. "I'm not going to bite."

"Fine, fine, you win, I'll fell." Rico said in defeat. He gently put his dark black wing on Jewel's stomach, feeling the unborn egg inside. "Wow, it feels...round."

"Feel's round?" Jewel queried, grinning as she watched the hawk feel her unborn egg.

"Yeah." Rico replied, retracting his wing back to his side. "I got to go; I promised Rapper I'd meet him." Rico said, preparing to take off. He extended his wings out and flew into the sky, biding his friends farewell. "Goodbye."

"Bye!" the Blue Macaw family (minus the Father) waved. Seconds after Rico had departed, Blu had returned, holding a leaf with food inside for him and his family.

"I'm back." Blu declared, landing himself and the fruit down with his family. He unwrapped the leaf, revealing six mangos inside.

The kids each picked up a mango in their tiny wings, kindly thanking their father. "Thank you, Daddy!"

Blu passed Jewel two mangos since she eats more now to help feed her unborn child. "Thanks honey." Jewel smiled, pecking Blu on the side of his beak.

After the family almost finished their breakfast, Jewel decided to announce something, something fun that they could all do. "Kids, eat up were going out."

"We are, where?" Azul asked, a hint of excitement in his voice.

"To the beach." Jewel replied.

"Ya!" the kids cheered, flying off towards the beach in a matter of seconds without their parents.

"Kids, wait for us!" Jewel called out, chuckling slightly before noticing Blu looking a little fearful. "Blu, what's wrong?"

"I'm just a little worried. You know, I mean you're pregnant again, and last time we thought the monkeys were going to attack us." Blu recalled, and explained.

"But Blu, the Monkeys are our friends now." Jewel said, trying to calm her husband down.

"But Jewel, I mean, what if you get hurt? And-"

Jewel placed her wingtip upon Blu's beak to stop him from panicking further. "Shhhh. We'll be fine, trust me, ok?" Jewel promised.

Blu nodded in response.

"Relax, now let's go, and remember, don't worry." Jewel said, taking her wing from his beak.

The five Macaws flapped their tiny wings, heading for the Ipanema beach to enjoy a family day of fun.

At the Ipanema beach, the two best friends Nico and Pedro were having a small friend war, throwing sand balls at each other. They were in a small area that was blocked off from the rest of the beach

"Take that!" Nico yelled, finally hitting his best friend with the sand ball. "Haha!"

"I'll get you back for this!" Pedro assured, waving his wing in revenge.

"Oh yeah?" Nico replied, ready to toss another sand ball.

Nico and Pedro, stood opposite each other with their wings half on their sides, like cowboys having a duel. The theme called "The good, the bad, and the ugly," played as background music.

Right before either of them could make a move, "Uncle Pedro! Uncle Nico!" Rey and Azul suddenly, bombarded on the Cardinal.

"Hey kids, you're going to give me a heart attack, one day!" Pedro laughed, also hugging back. He looked to his left, where he could see Crystal, almost squeezing the life out of Nico.

"Hello Uncle Nico, I missed you." Crystal cooed, closing her eyes as she continued hugger her older yet smaller uncle.

"I missed you too, sweetie." Nico chuckled, patting his Niece on the head.

Blu and Jewel landed down on the beach not too long after, joining the others on the sand.

"Hey, Nico, Pedro, hope are kids didn't hurt you." Blu grinned.

"Nah we good." Pedro replied, as the kids let him go.

Crystal then proceeded over to her father and tugged his wing a few times to gain his attention. "Daddy! Daddy!"

"Yes Crystal?" Blu said, looking at Crystal, who climbed on his shoulder like he was a playground.

"Can we go play in the water?" Crystal asked politely, opening her big eyes as much as she could.

"Sure, remember don't go too far out." Blu instructed.

"I won't." Crystal assured.

"Good, then let's go." Blu said.

Blu and his Daughter went to the shallow end of the sea, Pedro and Rey went to build a sand castle. As for Azul, he rested his back on the sand, wearing Nico's bottle cap covering him from the shade, while Jewel and Nico chatted.

"So Jewel, how's the baby going?" Nico inquired.

"It's good; I just hope it's going to be fine though" Jewel said, a hint worry in her voice while she spoke quietly, so nobody else could here.

"What do you mean?" Nico asked.

"You do know some birds don't make it...During birth." Jewel explained, slightly crying tears from her eyes.

Nico flew up to Jewel on her shoulder, and stroked her head to comfort her. "Don't say that, Jewel, you're going to be fine, trust me, you'll have your baby, and live a peaceful life, I promise."

"You sure?" Jewel sniffed.

"I'm positive." Nico promised.

Jewel managed to put on a smile, and kissed Nico's head. "Thanks Nico."

Meanwhile, Pedro and Rey finished building their sandcastle. Pedro looked to his side, and saw a family had left a bucket and spade behind. He formed a smirk as he had an idea. "Hey Rey, come follow me."

He and his Nephew walked behind the sand castle to talk quietly. Pedro whispered quietly into his eardrum "Rey would you like to pull a prank, on your Uncle Nico?" Pedro offered.

Rey, hearing the word 'Prank', opened his big brown eyes excitedly. He jumped up and down excitedly. "Really, how?"

"Look over there." Pedro said, with one wing on Rey while he had the other wing pointing.

Rey followed where Pedro pointed, and spotted the object they were going to use. "Sweet."

Back to where Jewel, Nico and Azul were resting, Jewel had stopped crying were and was now calm. Azul was almost sleeping, until he poked up, seeing his Uncle sitting beside him to ask him a question: "Uncle Nico, where did you get this bottle cap from?"

"Well kiddo, an eagle chased me through the city, and then suddenly, a bottle fell down hitting the eagle down. The bottle cap twirled towards me, and I kept it as a hat." Nico explained.

Jewel, heard what Nico was talking about, and scooted over to him and her son. "You're telling me, a bottle saved you, and you kept the bottle cap, as a good luck thing?"

"Yeah pretty much." Nico simply replied.

Azul leaned up from the sand, causing the bottle cap to fall over his eyes. "I believe him, Mommy!"

"Of course you do sweetie." Jewel smiled, patting her son on his little head.

"Can I go swimming with Daddy and Crystal?" Azul requested.

"Of course you can, sweetie, just stay close to your Father." Jewel granted.

Azul flew into the air, remember he was wearing Nico's bottle cap, and threw it back to his Uncle like a Frisbee. "There's your hat, Uncle Nico!"

"Thanks kiddo!" Nico called back, placing his bottle-cap back across his head.

Jewel sighed seeing her family in the ocean, happy that she had family and friends that cared about her. "I can't believe one year ago, I was completely alone, and now have good friends, beautiful children, and a handsome mate."

"Yeah I and Pedro thought something would happen." Nico said, placing his wings behind the back of his head. "Ever since we first met Blu."

"Oh, so you're the ones who gave him advice about Brazilian ladies." Jewel smirked, showing a slightly evil expression across her face.

Nico rubbed the back of his neck, chuckling nervously. "Uh, yeah, sorry about that."

"It's ok, what matters is, everything is fine." Jewel said, lying down on the sand.

Nico also relaxed laying a few feet away, using his bottle cap as shade. As Nico was almost sound asleep, he suddenly felt hard sand hit him hard.

"AAH! What the-" Nico coughed, as he stood up with his yellow feathers now a dusty brown colour. Nico grunted angry, as he saw Pedro and Rey holding the spade and bucket. Nico flew directly to the two, who gulped in fear. "Uh oh."

Pedro tried to run, but Nico jumped on him, holding his wing behind his back. "Say it, say it!"

"Uncle, Uncle, Nico, Uncle!" Pedro yelled, banging his free wing against the sand.

"No. Uncle Pedro, Uncle Nico's my Uncle not yours." Rey said confused, obviously not familiar with the game.

"No, no, no, kiddo, Uncle is what you yell when you lose." Nico explained, raising an evil smile as he prepared to chase his nephew. "And you're next."

Jewel was almost fast-asleep, but she leaned up when yelling shot through her eardrums. She leaned up fully, seeing Nico torture Rey by ticking his sides.

"I'm sorry, Uncle, Uncle!" Rey laughed, squirming around as much as he could. "Uncle!"

Nico ended his fun and stopped ticking his Nephew.

Rey quickly ran for protection, moving in front of his mother and hiding under her wing. "Did you see that, Mommy? Did you see me?" Rey asked.

"Yes Rey, I saw." Jewel smiled. "But why did you and Pedro drop sand on Nico?"

"A little vengeance for earlier." Pedro simply answered.

After a long day at the beach, the Blu Macaw family flew back to their tree, ready for their sleep. Blu and Jewel watched their kids fall asleep in a matter of seconds before they both cuddled, lying in their nest with each other.

"See Blu, I told you nothing was going to happen." Jewel said, nuzzling his neck playfully.

"Yeah, I guess I overreacted, a little." Blu admitted, resting his chin on Jewel's head.

"A little?" Jewel giggled.

"Okay, a lot." he admitted, holding her close as he discussed something with her. "Jewel, do you think there are more of us out there?"

"Well, we are supposed to be the last of our kind, but maybe." Jewel replied.

They give each other a quick kiss, and fell asleep in each other's wings, looking forward to the next morning to start another glorious day.
