His dark silhouette hung in the doorway, as thunder crashed and lightning briefly illuminated his body. Darkness quickly claimed him once more, leaving only a memory to ache in my heart. I so wanted to see him again, to imprint the image of his beauty on my mind.
"Why are you here?" My throat was so dry, it barely came out as a whisper.
No answer
"Tell me! You swore to leave me all alone again."
The rain was the only reply I could hear, as it beat against the window almost hypnotizing in its rhythm. A song just barely unable to be heard, so sweet and alluring. Almost as if it were a mothers last lullaby.
The creaking of the wooden floor tore my attention away from the trance of water. Slowly, he came closer to me. My heart accelerated til I thought I would die from it alone, my breaths came out shaky, I couldn't seem to remember how to breath properly...i had no words to tell him to stop. My body reacted without me, backing me into the corner of the room, causing me to fall back onto the group of pillows, the only inhabitants of the bare room save for a few pieces broken furniture.
The down of the pillows provided little comfort as he drew ever closer, their musk filling my nose. He fell to his knees at my feet as lightning flashed once more, revealing the exquisite line of his stern jaw that led to the soft lips that once held laughter and a smile. His eyes, that once could entrap me with the glitter of mischief and knowing, were cast down to the floor. How I longed to meet those eyes again, to bathe myself in his blue-green eyes once more, to cast out the sorrow that haunted them.
I couldn't help but touch his face, I lifted his eyes to meet mine..my heart broke at the sight...what mournful sadness those eyes spoke to me. Quicker then I could have imagined, he pushed me back against the pillows, his solid frame above me. His breathing was ragged, causing his whole body to shudder, almost as if he were chilled to the bone. My only thoughts were of him, to warm him as I had done before. I gently touched his cheek, not wanting to alarm him, leaning slightly toward him. He whimpered quietly and leaned against my palm as the first warm trickle of pain left him and spilled across my skin.
"Shhhh..my angel.."
As the last breathe left my lips, he captured my lips gently but persistently laying his body down along mine among the down of the discarded haven the pillows provided. The tears were still hot on his skin glistening in streaks in the light of the storm. My hands gripped with anticipation in the black hair that crowned his head, as he wrapped his arms around me, warning of never letting go. His teeth dragged my bottom lip out before letting go, and moving down to gingerly nibble my neck. A short gasp escaped me as teeth teased me and bite into a sensitive spot, so I took his ear into my possession, claiming it as my own.
I could feel the strength in his arms, as they gripped my body and pressed me close to him. My hands had found their way down the sinew of his arms and shoulders, molding into the muscle in his back, smooth and lean, all the way to his slender waist..his shirt long forgotten in the torrent of the storm.
"Cale"
Such a night to remember, as he molded our bodies together into a rhythm, our breathes into one. His warm skin kissed by the sun, bright against my own, our passions drowned out by the quieting roar of the distant thunder. To always love the man, whom made my dreams come true, and the nightmares seem less real. Who ran but came back, seeking to never give up.
