Just a little idea I had. I think I'll continue to explore through each of the characters an outlook on things. But I thought it might be fun to write from the Man in the Moon's point of view. Tell me what you think! Do you think I wrote him well, completely off, wrong?
In Death, we are only confined by our own minds. We see it as it is. Maybe a hell, maybe a paradise, or perhaps the places never seen.
Death is blind in our world, but in its own warren, we are the blind ones, and Death sees through us what is its warren. Those who slip through Death's fingers in only a passing way are those who believe to be reincarnated. Those who stay stuck in a rut are those trapped in their own musings, torture and guilt.
Death is a female who brought us into this world, and will bring us out of it, tough-love...but also a male, for the power it holds over us, it is never pleasant, either in conditions or mental nuances…
These I understand to be true; and everything else a simple dream to live through.
I was created not long after Death came to be in this dimension. When the universe was born, Death was right alongside it, but had yet to find a foothold in this… place. When Earth was formed, I myself was born, and have lived these long ages alone, watching as Death gave rise and fall to everything from the smallest organism to mankind.
I do not fight Death, I do not meddle with its choices or nature.
But there are times when I see One who is meant to live beyond the judgment of Death, who was taken away through accident and not on purpose. These I bring back. Yes, because you see, every yin must have a yang, just as the darkness cannot be without light.
Darkness is simply an absence of me, and life is an absence of Death.
And those who I bring back carry on my work, spread my magic throughout the land; my gifts that I have given to counter Pandora's curses.
Hope.
Joy.
Memories.
Dreams.
And most recently of all… Fun.
And they have fought the age long battle with one of Pandora's worst curses… the Nightmares of Pitch Black.
Pitch Black is not Death, yet he has never come into contact with this age old power. For you see, Pitch Black has been around since before the beginning of time, when all things were held in animation, waiting for a catalyst to begin the reaction.
That catalyst was Pitch.
Why create a Universe of chaos when everything was already under his control?
How long could you live alone, without power over another, or fear from them or love? These were the reasons why. In the end, we are all of Pitch Black's children, rising up against our Father like the Gods of Greek legend against their own Titan father.
But Pitch made a mistake, for he created children he cannot live without; me and the children of the world. And those who I choose to protect the children now play a part in this complicated game of life and Death.
Soon, a war will be waged, and the newest life I have brought back from the icy depths of Death's heart will play a role much larger than I could have imagined in it.
I spoke to him only once, to tell him his name, but no more. There are things we are better off not knowing until we can understand them. And those of us who are untouched by Death - my Guardians, Pitch and myself – have many millennia's to discover ourselves, our centers, and what it is we were put here for.
But the children of the world have only a few years to truly live in the magic that surrounds them, before it is passed on to their children.
And this I understand to be true, while all else is a dream to live through.
