Just a short drabble about Kili and his thoughts while still an underage dwarf living in the blue mountains.
This is my first time posting in the Hobbit Fandom.
Hope you like!
He smiled to hide the pain.
He smiled so they wouldn't see that inside he was broken. That they had broken him. He smiled so they wouldn't win.
He smiled even though inside he wailed. He smiled because he could no longer cry. The tears would no longer come. Though inside it felt as if they never stopped.
He smiled and they believed everything was fine.
He smiled and they saw what they wanted to see.
He smiled as they degraded him, told him he wasn't good enough, that he was wrong, that he was a burden and a freak. He smiled and made it seem as if it didn't faze him what they said. As if he didn't break a little bit more on the inside with every foul word said to him. He smiled and they left with a disgusted snort.
He smiled as he went about his day. He smiled as he did his chores. As he practiced with his weapon of choice because it was his weapon and a perfectly respectable and worthy weapon no matter what they said. Because their opinion didn't matter. Only it did because every time they mocked him for it he broke a little bit more.
But he kept on smiling because one day he would prove them wrong. He smiled because one day they wouldn't matter anymore.
One day he would be free.
Until that day he smiled.
