It's quite in Mobius, and up on a hill top near an apple tree and watching the sunset, is a teenage rabbit, with gleaming yellow fur, green eyes but his right eye was that of a Cyborg's and both his arms were metal too. He only wore a purple tank top and green pants.
He called himself Steve Rabbit, a child from one of the pairings in the Freedom Fighters.
"It is a rather nice sunset…" He sighed, in a Texas accent given from his mother.
As he watched the fireflies while chewing on a stalk of grass, his sister, a blue-eyed coyote in a red dress and a red ribbon in her hair, came up to him. She is Jaclyn.
"Conte de fees?" Jaclyn asked, meaning 'fairy tale'. The true special feature of the young coyote was that she could only speak French, given from her father and that Steve was glad to translate what she said to any of his friends.
"Oh yes, Jaclyn. If you wait for that very special thing tonight, the fireflies might seem so real." Steve smiled, he watched his sister kneeling to the ground looking for something. She called them fairies because of the fireflies' light.
"Petit fees, cachette." She spoke, and this meant 'little fairies, hideaway'.
Steve, with a soft grin, gathered his sister up in his robotic arms, "Well they might not come out if you're too close, Jaclyn. Come on, sit by me." As he sat his sister next to him underneath the apple tree, they continued watching the sunset.
Soon, their parents came up, a coyote wearing a blue and red uniform and a yellow bunny with a pink top and a brown jacket and hat.
"Time to get in bed, kids." Their mother, Bunnie said, "It's staring to get late."
"Just a little longer, Ma?" Steve asked, "Fireflies come around at this time of night and we hardly get to see them."
"Faire plaisir?" Jaclyn added, meaning 'please'.
Bunnie looked at Antoine, who winked at his wife and she replied to her children, "Okay, just a little longer. But be sure your sister gets to her bed time, okay?" She and Antoine then walked off.
"Good night, Ma." Steve nodded.
"Bonne nuit!" Jaclyn added.
As they sat together, the sun was getting lower and lower. Steve drooped his eyes (if you count the cyborg one) but he tried to keep his head up. Jaclyn was resting her head in her brother's lap. Steve watched as a tiny little bird landed. It stared at the fireflies around them, and opened its beak…
"Go away." Steve spoke, as the bird took flight from them. A few more minutes later, as the fireflies passed by them, Steve had already fallen into deep sleep along with Jaclyn. Behind the apple tree, Antoine peeked his head and gestured for Bunnie.
"Bunnie darling, you have to zee this." The elder Coyote whispered, smiling at the sight of his children.
Bunnie smiled too, "Aw, the little rascals already tuckered themselves out."
"Both of them always wanting to zee the life of night." Antoine sighed.
"Maybe, someday, they catch the little critters again." The female rabbit giggled as she gathered up her coyote daughter and Antoine lifted his rabbit son in his arms too and both parents carried their little ones into their home for the night.
For now, in their dreams they'll see them, but someday, they'll find them… the life of the night…
