"Maybe I don't want to" pouted Sara.
"Look darlin, said Nick, What to Eat when you're Expecting is very clear on what is considered a healthy diet for baby. I am pretty sure that eating nacho's and chocolate frosting out of the tub is part of the 'Best Odds Diet".
"Nick, the nachos are healthy, there are beans, cheese and veggies in there. And as for the frosting, it has been scientifically proven that chocolate releases endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy mommy, happy baby. Cranky Sara, cranky everyone."
Nick sighed. He loved Sara more than life itself, but the mood swings have been hard on the whole lab, although it was funny when she threw ranch dressing on Hodges when he told her that her butt was getting big.
"Ok darlin' I'll go with the 'nutrition' thing. But nachos and frosting together, at 8:00am."
Sara smiled. Unlike Nick, her ironclad stomach was natural. "Hey baby, its noon somewhere."
Nick walked into the living room. He stared at the object hanging from the ceiling.
"What is that"
Sara smiled. "It's a baby bouncy swing. It hangs from the ceiling and the baby can bounce from her weight. It keeps them amused. Brass bought it for me and installed it this morning when he brought the nachos."
Nick was incredulous. "Sara, didn't we tell Brass that he had to stop buying things for the baby before he spent his whole pension."
"I know, but he wants to. You know that the little Stokes is like a grandchild to him."
Nick had to agree with that. Brass had always treated Sara like his daughter, since Sara's father was long dead, and Ellie, was well Ellie. Brass had proudly walked Sara down the aisle and even paid for part of the wedding. And then after Nick and Sara told him that they were naming the baby James Warrick if it was a boy, he just went crazier than any prospective grandparent could be. Nick knew that things had started to get out of hand when Brass' date to the baby shower had been the manager of the Lullaby Depot, where he and Sara had registered for baby items.
"Earth to Nicky", Sara said.
Nick turned around and smiled, not realizing his mind had wandered. He then considered Sara. She was incredibly sexy, even at eight months pregnant. She was round everywhere and glowing with happiness. He smiled when he thought of the night they made little James Warrick or Diana Catherine. He looked at her and noticed that she was smiling.
"Yes darlin'"
"Do you want me to tell Brass to take back the bouncy swing?"
"No, its ok. Trying to stop Brass is like trying to stop a tornado.
Sara smiled, taking in her husband's fine form. She thought that pregnancy would quench her desire for sex, but it seemed to go into the opposite direction.
"Baby"
Nick didn't answer still staring at Sara. She looked good. He felt himself getting aroused thinking of the two of them and the things they could do with the frosting. His reverie ended suddenly when he felt himself being whacked by a pillow.
"Stokes" Sara looked mad.
"Sorry darlin', just thinking about you. What did you say?"
"I was saying Nicolas, I can think of five more interesting things to do with this frosting, than my eating."
Nick laughed; their minds were often in sync. "Just five…sweetheart, I think the pregnancy has gotten to your brain."
"Nicky!" she yelled, whacking him with the pillow again.
He grabbed her by the waist and kissed her…as feathers filled the air.
The End
