This is much darker than what I usually write, it's extremely stylized and quite vague, it's more a piece of prose fiction than a short story...
The darkness cleared the disillusion in her mind, she stood at the precipice of the final spot which she feared most; his final resting place. It was finally clear…
Tears found their way to the surface, breaking the barrier which she fought so hard to contain; guilty tears for him.
Darkness consumed every thought in her mind, her existence was barely one worth noting, and she merely transitioned from day into night. She simply existed. Life was no longer something which merited her efforts.
The world which they once shared was but a distant memory teasing her, testing her sanity.
Whispers in the night foretold the suffering which ensued, her focus for normalcy evaded her; there was no telling when she would cease to feel the pain within the tomb which was her body. It was finally clear…
Voices faded in and out; friends, family, complete strangers…it was all the same to her, she felt nothing toward anyone, anymore.
She clutched at the last fading memory of him, his smile forever imprinted in her mind, when he told her that he loved her and held her and kissed her, now all that remained was the darkness and a hole left behind.
Her ghostly breath danced as a spirit before her, she thought that she caught a glimpse of his face in the night, just as quickly as it had appeared it was gone, another freshly torn wound.
Darkness closed in around her, a familiar fate, she deserved nothing more. He was gone because of her. She didn't deserve to breathe if he couldn't.
He tried to save her because she didn't listen to him; she argued she thought she knew better. She was wrong. And now he was gone.
The cold metallic taste in her mouth was beckoning her, slowing, surely beckoning from within the depths of the darkness. It was finally clear…
'I'm coming; I'm coming home to you.' She whispered.
The sickly sweet allure of the dark cruelly mocked her.
She closed her eyes and welcomed the looming metallic solace which caressed her lips.
She squeezed the trigger, it was finally clear.
Let me know how you found this, I know it was quite brutal...but hey, we search angst for a reason right guys, hope this satisfied your angsty desires!
