She turned and looked at him. The others were used to those looks by now. Not that it was that hard to miss. He looked at her and she looked at him. It had been how many months now? No one was really sure but those two needed to learn to do more than just look.
And they started to do more than just look. While taking a break from fighting, they started to get closer. No more slapping and shouting. He learned to control his wandering hand better. They actually snuggled up together one night to the surprise of everyone in the hut. They thought he was going to be slapped for sure untiltheir snores convincedeveryone elseotherwise.
It progressed more and more. There was less and less shouting and more cuddles. She seemed to be enjoying herself. And during the day, those looks. Those looks that made him turn a faint shade of pink. The others would give each other knowing looks but he never cared. He just pretended not to notice.
Eventually he decided that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. He proposed and she accepted. He was thrilled and nearly scared his best friend to death with his happiness. She had scared her normally optimistic friend too with her own happiness. And the wedding was set for the next spring.
They were older now. Too old for adventures. They had settled down in the village that had become their second home. She was still able to kick his butt, he had to admit.
