Konan sat at the piano alone, playing quietly, singing along solemly. Her fingers quickly traced each key with absolute precision and ethreal sound. Her voice rang out in the lonely house with nobody but her in it.

"Hey, love...is that the name we're ment to have for me to call? Oh look, love, they've given up believeing...they've turned aside our stories of the gentle fall...but don't you believe that...don't you drink their poisen,too...this is the scar that words have carved on me..."

Konan smiled at the musical break. Ameno had been teaching her well. Maybe, she thought, she could impress Pain...

"Hey love....I am a constant satellite of your blazing sun, my love...I'll obey your law of gravity..."

She heard a knock at the door. She quickly got up and cleared her throat, shouting, "Come in!"

"Hey, Konan!" Ameno shouted as she came in. "I come baring a gift. I'll give you two hints...It's in a bag, and it's not a toaster."

"Ameno, come on, you didn't have to get me anything."

"I KNOW I didn't HAVE to...but when you have a bestest friend it's kinda hard to resist," she gave an innocent smile and handed her the bag.

Konan looked down into the bag and saw a large array of flowers, each on a hair clip, just for her. She smiled.

"Ameno! Why did you get all this for me?!" she laughed.

"Becaauussee! I wanted to! There's a whole store dedicated to things you'd like in the shopping district...wanna go?"

"But..I...was...practicing on the pia-"

"SHOW ME!" she poked her in the arm.

"But...I..."

"Now!"

"Okay, okay, I'll show you..." she sighed and sat at the piano, beginning to play from where she left off.

"Hey, love...that's the name we've long held back...from the core of truth...so don't turn away, now, I am taking the revolution...these are the scars that love has called upon me..."

Ameno smiled broadly, "You have been practicing, haven't you Konan?"

"It isn't that good..."

Ameno thumped her in the back of the head. "WHAT did you just say?!" she smirked.

Konan smiled a bit. "you really thought it was good?"

Ameno shook her head. "No," she looked at Konan's dissapointed face, "it was awesome!"

Konan instantly perked up, hugging her best friend. Then she heard another knock at the door. Konan and Ameno shouted, "Come in!"

Pein walked in alone, glancing at Konan, then at Ameno, then quietly saying, "Hello," then leaving.

Konan could feel her cheeks go a deep red. She looked at Ameno.

"Can I tell you something?" she said quietly.

"Sure, Konan, anything..."

"Uh...okay," she stood and whispered something into Ameno's ear. Ameno smiled brilliantly.

"Well, so that's why you were singing 'Gravity', hm? I get it, because of his Shinra Tensai and his Bansho Ten'nin!"

Konan blushed deeper, then sighed. "But do you think he'd ever really like me back?"

"I know that for a fact!" Ameno smiled.

Konan, with the faintest gleam of hope in her eyes, hugged her best friend once more, blushing deeply, truely hoping that he DID, in fact, love her back.
