"Oh, chocolate cake, yum!" Daphne exclaimed, coming into the kitchen. "Which one's mine?"
Fred pointed to the largest piece on the table as Scooby and Shaggy dived head first into their "pieces".
The redhead's eyebrows drew together in annoyance. "Now why did you give me the biggest piece, Freddie? Because I love chocolate cake and you just assumed that I'd want the big piece? Is that it?"
Fred's eye widened and the blonde shook his head vigorously. "Daph—I just—take a bit of it, will you? Scoob and Shag like it."
Daphne rolled her dark eyes and flipped her hair. "Scooby and Shaggy like everything."
Said dynamic duo had been slinking out of the kitchen, the rest of the chocolate cake accompanying them. Hearing their names, they glanced at each other and made a run for it.
"Freddie, you have to stop assuming these things. Maybe I was on a diet or someth—Oh, Velma, what is it?"
The bespectacled woman had been tapping her friend on the shoulder impatiently, a desperate expression on her freckled face. "Daphne, just take a bit of the cake."
Daphne smiled and lifted her fork, sighing dramatically. "You guys are so—" she stabbed the cake and finally took a bite, chewing quickly, slowly…slower… She stopped chewing with an alarmed expression on her face.
She reached into her mouth with one finger as Scooby and Shaggy poked their heads back into the kitchen curiously, noting the silence.
Daphne blinked at the shining, gold engagement ring dangling off her finger.
"Oh," she murmured, eyes filling with happy tears as Velma laughed, Fred grinned and Scooby and Shaggy shrugged at each other.
"Daphne, can I ask you something or do you want to finish your cake first?"
