I felt inspired to write this after re-watching the last couple of episodes. I will be continuing with Make Me Wanna Die, I just wanted to get this out there first. Spoilers for Journey... Please review? :)
Disclaimer: I don't own Glee or any of the characters, although I wouldn't mind owning Cory and Finn!
Rachel was sat on a wall outside her house when Finn drove past in his battered truck. It was just after they'd lost regionals and it was immediately apparent to Finn she hadn't been inside and told her dads yet. Whilst Finn knew that New Directions would be taking it badly, Finn knew that Rachel would take it the worst. She was a drama queen, but he loved her. He pulled over to the side of the road and jumped out of his truck, then joined Rachel on the wall. She didn't acknowledge his arrival; nor did he make a scene about his appearance. Instead, they sat there in silence for what felt like hours – but which was really only minutes – before Rachel broke the peace.
"Hi..." she said softly. This wasn't the same Rachel Berry Finn had seen a few hours ago.
"Hey..." Finn replied, his own voice taking on a softer tone to the normal.
"I was going to be a star..." Rachel's voice trailed off, like she was giving up on everything, including her dream. Finn became indignant at this.
"You still are going to be a star – you're Rachel Freaking Berry! We lost, sure, but you didn't. You never do, because you're too special. You weren't the star to the judges today, but you're New Directions star. And you're my star!" Finn emphasised the word 'my', a triumphant look in his eyes.
This caused Rachel to smile at Finn, a brief smile which made his heart flip.
"Did you mean what you said before we went on the stage?" she asked tentatively.
"Yes, with all my heart!" Finn confidently replied.
To Finn's surprise, Rachel took his hand at this point and the two love birds stayed in this newfound peaceful silence.
"And Jacob is never laying a finger on you!" Finn added, causing Rachel to jolt up in surprise and smile a little wider then last time.
"The Twilight wannabes have scarred him enough with their vampire attack. From what I last heard, he's still receiving psychological help to get through the nightmares and bad memories," Rachel giggled, causing Finn to get a more serious look in his eyes.
"I promise Rach, that the vampire fangirls will never get you!" He blurted, causing Rachel to lean over and kiss him. It was a simple kiss, filled with memories of music and bowling and love.
"What was that for?" Finn asked, gazing down at Rachel and smiling his beautiful crooked smile.
"For protecting me from vampires," Rachel said softly.
"That's me Rach, bodyguard and carer to the future Broadway stars!" he puffed out his chest in pride, making Rachel grin.
"I love you!" she said, simple and pure whilst still holding Finn's hand and gazing into his perfect, chocolate brown eyes.
Finn said nothing more of love and vampires. He just picked up his girl, and kissed her.
