Marie quickly hurried down the corridor, clutching her books close to her chest. She was looking down at the floor to avoid seeing people look at her. People liked to stare at her for Marie had natural beauty although she did not think so. As she was walking to her next class, someone ran into her. She stumbled and fell backwards, hitting her bum hard.
"I am sorry about that," said a smooth, calming voice.
She looked up and saw someone she had always heard about, but had never seen. It was Harry Potter. He held out his hand to help her back up. As soon as she was up, she started picking up her things that scattered all over the floor.
"Thanks for helping me up," said a timid Marie.
By that time, Harry was blushing, "I am sorry for knocking you over."
"It's ok, I am ok," laughed Marie, "You don't have to worry.
"So," Harry said, "What is your name?"
"Marie", she said as she was looking at the floor again avoid his handsome green eyes.
"Well, I have to go to the library now, hopefully I can talk to you later," said Marie.
"Ok, it was nice meeting you." Said Harry.
"You too"
"See you then"
Marie rushed off quickly hoping he didn't see her evident blush. She thought she should be braver because she was a Gryffindor, but she just couldn't help being shy. When she got to the library she couldn't concentrate. She just kept thinking about Harry.
"This is stupid," she said to herself," Just about every girl in school likes Harry."
She started daydreaming about her being asked to the winter ball a couple of weeks away by Harry. A voice interrupted her thoughts and pulled her from her daydream.
"You don't look like you are working too hard," said Harry.
"What are you doing here?" Marie questioned.
"Hermione made me come up here to finished homework, she said I was daydreaming too much in the common room and she thought I could concentrate better in the library."
"Yeah, I was kind of daydreaming too. I can't help it." explained Marie. "So what homework are you working on?"
"Charms," Harry said, "And you?"
"Defense against the Dark Arts," she replied, "I can help you with your Charms. I am almost as good as Hermione at them."
"I can help you with your Defense against the Dark Arts then."
"No that is ok, I can handle it," said Marie, "Thank you for offering though."
Marie helped him for an hour with his charms. During that time, she noticed everything about him. She especially noticed his smell, chocolate and butterbeer. There were a couple of times where she wished she could just stare into his green eyes. Then reality kicked in. She got really serious. He would never fall in love with me so stop thinking he will.
Harry noticed the serious look on her face and chuckled to himself. She really was quite cute when she had that contemplative look.
They finished up in the library and Harry dropped her off at the staircase to the girl's dormitory.
All of a sudden Harry asked a question she wasn't expecting.
"Will you go to Hogsmeade with me?'
Her answer was……..
