Beep…Beep….Beep
Mac Taylor woke from a deep sleep. A quick glance to his bedside clock told him it was 6:30am. Picking up his beeping pager he read it and dialled Flack.
"Don, what could possibly have you up at this time?"
"I know Mac. I wish I was still in bed too but I got the early shift."
"So what have you got for me Don?"
"Suspected suicide"
"Give me your location and I will be there as soon as possible."
"Right OK Mac see you then"
As soon as Mac had finished the call with Flack he walked bleary eyed to the coffee machine and hit espresso. He knew he would not have time for anything larger. Moving to his closet he picked out a clean pair of pants, shirt and a tie. After pulling these on he downed his espresso grabbed his jacket and bag and headed out the door.
When he reached the scene he was met by Flack.
"Fill me in Flack."
"12 year old female hung herself on a skipping rope"
"12? Suicide? Seriously?"
"Appears to be"
"A skipping rope?"
"Yes. That's not the only strange thing about this case."
"Tell me more"
"The Vic was found in a garden. Not any old garden but a creepy one. There are old rocking horses, basket balls, a broken Wendy House and these strange wind chimes."
"What sounds so creepy about that?"
"Go see for yourself." Flack said pointing to a narrow alley way.
Mac moved past the various officers along the alley way to a metal gate.
Looking in he say what was giving the Flack the creeps. Instead of a happy child's playground what he was met with was a desolate area filled with bare trees and those coloured balls you get in those ball pools scattered across the round. Little paths ran through the area with cob webs . He saw what Flack meant when heard the wind chimes. The eerie sounds they produced was chilling him right to the bones.
"See what I mean" Flack said making Mac jump.
"Yeah. Now where is this girl?"
Flack led the way to a small secluded corner of the "garden". He saw the girl hanging from a tree by a skipping rope. A young girl who's life was taken away too soon.
"Who found her?" Mac asked. "Anonymous tip. They said they smelt a funny smell. I don't know about you Mac but I don't smell anything do you?" Flack replied. "No I don't. That's another thing we can add to this strange things in this case."
Mac set down his forensic case and took out his camera. He started taking photos of the girl. As he was photographing he asked Flack if they had an ID yet. "No. It's a Jane Doe" Flack replied. Mac moved the rope from around the Vic's neck. "That's strange!" exclaimed Mac. "What's strange?" asked Flack. "There are finger marks below the rope and the rope is too slack to cause death by hanging." replied Mac. He looked down the arm and saw faint finger bruises around the wrists and up the arms.
"Flack I think we are looking at a murder!"
