My Angel

I saw a radiant Angel in a meadow today,
As I stepped from the trees he flew quickly away.
"Don't fly Angel" I cried, and I knew he could hear,
For he soon at the edge of the wood did appear.
He crouched in the boughs of a very tall tree
And his beautiful face looked down pondering me.

"I am no Angel!" he said with a smirk,
(At the sound of his voice my heart went beserk)
"But YOU are a demon, a temptress ... or dinner
(Could they really have sent me a meal that was thinner?)

He dropped from his perch and strode into the light
And I was so dazzled I shut my eyes tight.
The sun felt so warm as I lay back my head
"Have you noticed this grass makes a very fine bed?"

"Run away!" he said, "Run as fast as you can!"
"I may be immortal, but I am still a man."
"Well now," I mused "I did wonder about that,"
"Now come and lay down, and we'll have a chat."

"Your soul is in danger, you haven't a clue"
"About what I am and the things I can do."
"Well, a girl can imagine and maybe daydream..."
"I've had some of those on a similar theme."

"You should be frightened, or at least freak out,"
"But your absence of thoughts leaves me in no doubt,"
"That you have no concept of what's good or bad,"
"And I think you're maybe a little bit mad!"

"I'm only mad for the sound of your voice,"
"As I look in your eyes my heart has no choice,"
"But beat faster and faster and burst from my chest,"
"And now you are closer, I like your smell best!"

As he edged nearer, I drowned in those eyes,
His lips came so close, and to my surprise
My senses were overcome by his breath
And I slid into darkness as deep as death
