"I...uh went ahead and asked this young lady I've been seeing, Tina, to marry me"
"You know that I'm happy for you?"
"Are you?"
"Yeah."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I appreciate you telling me Warrick. I have to admit that at one time I thought that maybe...you and I...you know." with that they both laughed nervously.
"Yeah"
"Warrick, can I tell you something? Kinda tit for tat?"
"Sure, you know you can tell me anything."
"I've been seeing someone, and it's getting kind of serious." Warrick gulped, although he'd just proposed to another woman, there was still an undefinable pull towards Catherine. Any guy that she got serious with would have to be interrogated before he'd approve.
"Whose the lucky guy and where does he live?" Both smiled and laughed again, but Catherine was more than a little nervous. They'd managed to keep this under wraps for so long, and now here she was breaking the wall of silence.
"It's Sara, and you already know where she lives." Catherine tried to get out as nonchalantly as possible.
"Sara? Our Sara? As in female?" Warrick was stunned, someone who was so far from himself in many ways, he couldn't belive that Sara and Catherine were an item. "How long?"
"In actuality a few months, but the feelings have been there for a long, long time."
"Damn, you sure know how to kick a guy!"
"You're alright with this right? Please don't tell me you're not alright with this?" Warrick held his hands up in defence.
"Hey, don't take suprise for hurt. I'm pleased for you guys, a little confused, but hey, I'll get over it. You know, you're like the big sister I never had. I love you Catherine, and I wouldn't have wanted things to work out any other way."
"I love you too Warrick, and I'm so happy for you." The wrapped each other up in a tearful hug. They kissed gently, but it wasn't sexual, another time, another place maybe, but not in this lifetime.
Some things were just not meant to be.
