This was the most heinous thing Mello could have ever done to Matt. Forget Kira, forget Near, forget that time at Whammy's with the bird cage, the lanyard rope, and the bowling ball… This. This was the absolute worst thing Mello had ever done to Matt…

The synthetic music was increasing rapidly in momentum. The sound effects were loud. There were dings and beeps and some fake noise that was reminiscent of a trumpet chorus in the background. Seconds passed. The speed of the music and the pitch increased by half. It was an insane noise that drove itself into Matt's head like some perverse metaphorical drill.

"No! Nonono!!! Left I said!" Matt jumped. Left foot, then right foot twice. Hand on the orange square during jumps makes a back flip. "Aaah!" Matt landed the trick too late and the little character on the television set tumbled on the ground. This meant time was wasted.

A cheerful man's voice from the T.V. said, "Time's up!!!"

"Bastard…" The perpetually cheerful was too happy about Matt's loss. Matt would show him. Replay.

Again. Left foot on the blue square and right foot on the orange triangle, the little man on the screen glided foreword. An object approached from on the screen. It was a long wooden ramp. The little character jumped as ordered.

"Wait for it… Ha!" The jump was in time. Blue arrow, orange square, then combine. The number 2310 flashed across the screen. "Yes! Take it, bitch!" Once and for all the high score would be his.

His efforts were in vain a second time. He played again and again time ran out just before reaching the 20,000 point objective. Matt knew he could win this game. But, by the time the 5 attempt ended in failure he was out of breath. "Dammit, Mello…"

Matt collapsed on the couch and glared pointy daggers at the Wii pad and it's obnoxiously bright colors. Wii outdoor challenge was a game that encouraged exercise. It required running in place, timed jumping, fast arm motions, and various other activities designed to increase the heart rate.

Matt was a master of video games. But, it is yet to be seen how far Matt will get in beating this particular game. He played late into the night and well into the next morning. When Mello found Matt he was laying on the floor staring deeply into the carpet.

"…"

"I hate you. Officially." Matt couldn't move any other part of his body. He considered himself lucky to still have the use of his face and mouth.

Mello allowed for a tight smile. "Do you?"

"Yes. Yes, I do. That game is heinous. You are the devil." Matt continued to grumble but all words were lost into the carpet.

"Get up, Matt and stop whining. Maybe you could finish the game if you weren't out of shape."

"I'm in shape. That game is—"

"Stop smoking."

"No, I'm--"

"You can't run a mile."

Arguing with Mello was, as usual, pointless. Matt glared into the carpet some more before saying.

"Why would you get me a game like that when you know I just can't?"

Mello was silent for a moment. Then he moved into the other room. Matt may or may not overhear Mello say 'because I wish you could'. Matt chose not to overhear Mello call him an idiot.

The game is Wii Outdoor Adventure. It's a fitness game that is somewhat addicting to play when it's late and night and you have nothing to do and you have just consumed over 200 grams of sugar.
