He was like a star. He had burned out years ago, yet everyone still saw his light.

Friends forever, one said. We would not be the same without you, said the other. You were both full of lies, he said.

After his fall, after he was no more, they stayed in touch. Nothing was the same however. He was slowly pushed out, slowly swept under the rug. And the other two grew closer, ever closer. Though he did not mind too much. His own pain and sorrow was enough to occupy him. Too much pain. Too much darkness.

Did his fire go out, or did the neighboring stars grow brighter? Too bright, much too bright. Was he once like that? He did not know. All he knew now was darkness. Too far from the other stars. His light still reached them, what could be wrong? Did anyone care?

Long ago he was part of a large star. Beyond large. However all thing come to an end. Unlike the current state of the star, the large one split. At first it was fine, they remained close, almost nothing had changed. Almost. They were no longer united, no more were they one gaseous being. Conflict happened. Battle ensued. Fires grew. Fires shrank. Some threatened nonexistence. But they returned, almost to their former glory. Almost.

He was not so fortunate. After the fights, they spread apart some close, some far. At least then he had friends. He was near someone. Two friends, a trio. They were close, closer than brothers. His fire surged. Others were attracted towards him. A magnetic personality drew them in, the brightness on the outside deceived them. The inner darkness unseen. Or maybe it was ignored.

The darkness spread. The pain grew. A new axis spun, spun everything out of control. It was out of his hands. He was alone, slowly fading. Becoming a subject of the past, history. Would they notice when the light stopped? Would he care?

In the end, it did not matter. He was already gone. Much too gone. His light fading, fading, fading…

Gone.

I am back... some what. This was a real change of pace from my usual writing, but I am trying to slowly broaden my horizon.
