Lonelywerewolf: this idea is just a drabble of sorts, something I thought up when I notice that a certain pink haired girl never was in the hospital bed recovering from some major injuries or something of the sort, or if she was, I probably missed it. I did always wondered why she was the only one that was spared from a hospital bed on those extreme occasions. Hope you enjoy this small drabble, though.

Returning the favor
He watched his companion sleep soundly, her breathing following behind the beeping of the machine, who in return helped this young patient to breath. It was a rare sight to see in front of his eyes, indeed.
Naruto never thought that he'll see his teammate like this…maybe Kakashi-sensei, that Sasuke-teme, or him, suffocating themselves in a hospital bed while she was up and running, she was never in the hospital, recovering from fatal injuries. She was always the last one to get hurt in a fight, the last one to fall down in a battle, and now, she was here, so defenseless, so calm, in this white prison. This young woman, that could destroy walls with a single punch now lay weak and hurt under Naruto's eyes. A girl, who with the mere thought could heal her companions wounds, even their lives, shouldn't have been here, next to a machine that was helping her breath. She was a better doctor than she had been a patient.
The young ninja held her hand, as she had done time and time again as he had slept, recovering from old injuries. She would come to heal those wounds of her team that they had received in battle, but when it came to healing her, it was an all new case—they couldn't heal those wounds of hers even if they tried.
Let the Hokage do it, he had heard the Uchiha boy mouthed once or twice that whole day during the blonde's visit to this hospital. Hmph, emotionless bastard, too bad he was right; Naruto could do nothing but watch as his weak and hurt friend slept, that unknown pain circling her body.
He was more of a patient than a doctor, and now, it was absurd that she was here, so weak, bandages covering most of her delicate body, that strength that breaks walls gone, only a machine remaining to help the air enter her lungs. Sakura would always do the healing, while Naruto did the waiting, and now, he felt miserable because he couldn't do both.
She always watched over him, now it was time for him to return the favor, even if he couldn't heal her, he'll be by her side all the way…even if he wasn't the doctor.
