Riiiiiing!!
Both Angel and Collins jumped awake.
"Mmmm…who the hell would be calling this late??" Collins blinked, trying to focus his eyes in the dark.
Riiiiiiing!!
"I dunno, honey…how long were we sleeping, anyway?" Angel stifled a yawn behind his hand.
"I can't even see my watch it's so dark in here…" Collins loosened his grip on him, stretching.
Riiiiiiiing!!
Once again, the noise assaulted their ears, making them both cringe.
Angel sighed and pushed himself off the sofa, he stumbled over to the phone, nearly tripping in the darkness. He snatched up the receiver and held it to his ear.
"Hello?"
"Angel! You and Collins better get your asses down here!"
It was Maureen's voice.
"Why? What's wrong, sweetie?" Angel knitted his brow in concern.
"Huh? Nothing's wrong! It's just…God! This is so fucking cool! You gotta see it! It's amazing!!"
"See what? Thomas and I were sleeping very peacefully when you scared us half to death by calling, Mo." Angel grinned playfully. "How late is it, anyway?"
"Angel…it's 3 in the afternoon."
Angel blinked, nearly dropping the phone.
"Whaat?? It is?"
"Yes! Hurry…we're all outside!"
By this point, (and after much groping) Collins had turned on a light. The dim lamp light allowed Angel to focus on the tiny clock on the wall across the room…
It was indeed 3 PM.
"Okay, be right there." Angel gingerly set down the receiver, horribly confused.
Collins returned his gaze, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
"What'd she say, Ang?"
Angel shook his head, casting a glance to the inky blackness beyond their window. "She said it's 3 PM…"
"Come on! I think I know what's happening!" Collins leaped off the sofa and grabbed Angel by his wrist, gently pulling him along.
In under a minute, they were outside. Angel scanned his surroundings. He noticed people cluttering the streets, pointing up at the sky.
"Oh, there they are!" Collins pointed at the group of familiar faces on the street corner. Their usual gang was there.
Everyone (except for Mark, who was filming it, of course) turned and grinned in greeting as the couple rushed up to them.
"Finally!" Maureen squealed. She bounced, somewhat hyper.
"Angel, Collins! I was so afraid that you guys would miss this!" Mimi wrapped her arms around Angel in a firm hug.
Hugging her back, Angel finally glanced up at the sky…
An eclipse was taking place. It plunged the entire city into darkness.
"Oooh, cool! It's so beautiful!" He gasped.
"I know! Isn't it??" Maureen grinned even wider, her eyes huge.
"You know," Roger jerked his thumb up at the sky. "I've heard of these things…but I've never actually seen one."
Angel shook his head. "Neither have I…"
"Well, it's a good thing you came down just now…the next one won't happen for a long time." Joanne nodded up at the sky. "Consider yourself lucky."
"Does anyone else think it's kind of eerie looking?" Benny broke in, squinting. "I mean, the way it's glowing…"
Angel tilted his head, smiling. "No, not really. I think it's breathtaking…and romantic!"
"You think everything is romantic…" Mark deadpanned.
"What?" Angel giggled, squealing when Collins wrapped an arm around his waist and pulled him close. "It is!"
Collins kissed Angel on the cheek, agreeing with him. "I second that, Angelcake."
Angel leaned into Collins, overjoyed that he was able to witness and share this magical moment with those he loved.
THE END
A/N: Yes, I know you're not supposed to look directly at an eclipse.
I also know that this was pretty pointless, but that's okay. I just felt like writing it for some reason. (shrug)
Feel free to review…or not. :)
