Sequel to Sleep. TezuFuji.
Disclaimer: PoT, not mine, never will be!
---------------------------------
Sometimes the silence is so loud, he can hear it.
---------------------------------
It remains a true fact that Tezuka Kunimitsu was just not the talkative type, always saying only what needed to be said. It would not be so far fetched to allege that he didn't talk at all.
---------------------------------
Whenever they were together, Fuji did most of the talking; now and then Tezuka would nod in acknowledgement, an occasional " Hn. " uttered where a vocal response was absolutely necessary.
After a while Fuji would also become quiet, even a tensai/genius could only come up with so many things to converse about, especially when the companion in question happens to be the stoic ex-buchou of Seigaku.
---------------------------------
Even so, a complete silence never descended over those two.
---------------------------------
There was the sound of the stiffer one's footsteps as they walked together, sometimes hand in hand, or the shuffle of paper when Tezuka turned the pages of whatever book he would be reading on the bed, while Fuji scratched away at his homework across the room at his study table.
And then there was the sound of soft breathing when Tezuka would unconsciously fall asleep reading the said book, the rustle of the blanket the blue eyed one would drape over the other's sleeping form, fond smile on his face, and the clink of glasses which Fuji would gently remove and place besides the table lamp…
---------------------------------
Things were different now, Tezuka was not here.
---------------------------------
And there was still the drone of the ceiling fan rotating noisily above his head, the faint buzz of people as he walked on the streets, the cry of cicadas outside his window as he patted the empty spot beside him, wishing it goodnight anyway….But all of that fell on deaf ears.
---------------------------------
Because these days the silence was so loud, sometimes it was the only thing Fuji could hear.
