It had been years since Midoriya had last tried on the costume. He would always dress up in it for halloween, and the sheer amount of good memories associated with it always seemed to chase away whatever bad mood he had been in. He was drawn to it now, then, for that reason. There was no guarantee that it would fit, but he hadn't grown much taller since he last wore it and the costume itself would stretch around whatever extra muscle mass he had gained. Flashes from the day before scrolled through his mind.

Rain slicked the floor beneath his feet, slowing his progress. He could see the finish line, could practically taste it- until he was plunging forward, face making contact with the ground. The powerful buzz of One For All faded from his body, leaving him cold, bruised, and empty. He heard footsteps from behind him.

"Hey asshole! How's the bitter taste of defeat? I can't hear you from so far above!" A rough voice called out from behind him.

"Kacchan-" A foot collided with the back of his head, grinding his face against the ground.

"I will crush you. I will never come in second to useless, lying scum like you. Hear me?" Bakugou snarled.

"I'll surpass you! I swear it!" All For One flooded him again as he threw the wild boy off of him. Bakugou laughed and slammed his open palm against Midoriya's side, vaulting him over the finish line but leaving nasty burns along his side.

"How's that for first place?"

Snapping out of his memories, Midoriya changed out of his school clothes and into the costume. As he thought, it still fit decently. He straightened the bright yellow gloves and smoothing down the blonde wig. He grinned and posed in front of his mirror, muttering to himself. "I hope All Might doesn't show up. This would be embarrassing. I mean it's highly unlikely he would, but I know he likes to check up on me every once in awhile, especially if I've had a bad day. If he does, though, I can hear him come in from my room and my mother would make sure to tell me if I didnt."

"Young Midoriya! I heard what had happened today in class and I came as soon as I could to make sure that you are okay!" All Might froze in the doorway, cheeks bright red. Midoriya was standing in the middle of his room, posing in a makeshift version of All Might's own costume. The two stood and stared at each other- that is, until All Might started to chuckle. The boy covered his face with his hands, blushing furiously and letting out a whine.

"I'm so sorry! It's just that I've owned this for years and have so many happy things I've done in it-"

"Midoriya, you fanboy! It is okay!" All Might's laughter filled the room as he shrinked out of his hero form. "I understand that it brings you comfort. However, if today is bothering you, you shouldn't be afraid to approach me." He walked forward, gently gathering the embarrassed boy in his arms. Midoriya let out a sigh, relaxing into his mentor's arms.

"Thank you."
