He finds it funny, ironic even, that the little pink-haired genin became a medic. He finds it so funny that he can't help but smirk when he sees her healing someone, especially if they've just come from the Interrogation Rooms. Sometimes he just laughs about it, laughs so hard it brings tears to his eyes. When he needs a chuckle he thinks about it.

He thinks about it often.

He can remember the day that he first saw her. They had brought the children down to show them the interrogation center, and her pink head had caught his eye as it disappeared into an occupied chamber. He had followed her and found the child with her nose pressed against the glass, watching a spy being tortured with rapt attention. He pulls her away, but not before catching her green eyes full of…something. And now she heals them, even though he knows, deep down, that she wants to be making those wounds.

"Good morning, Ibiki-san," he hears as she walks past him, covered in blood from her latest patient. Her voice is weary and her shoulders slumped. He grins.

"Good morning."

It is too funny.

One day, he asks her whether or not she wants to be on the Interrogation Squad. Her eyes narrow, a tight smile on her lips.

"No thank you. I heal people, not hurt them."

He laughs.

"I think you would be good at it."

She leaves and he just keeps on laughing.

It is too, too funny.
