Friendship

If you be my star

I'll be your sky

you can hide underneath me and come out at night

when I turn jet black and you show off your light

I live to let you shineI live to let you shine

but you can skyrocket away from me

and never come back if you find another galaxy

far from here with more room to fly

just leave me your stardust to remember you by

Hogan watched as his men read their letters from home. He saw longing in them. A longing to leave and go home. It wasn't that he couldn't get anyone to replace them, no it wasn't that. He felt an on going worry for them. But he also cared about them, if they asked he would let them leave. He'd try to get them to stay first, but if all else failed he would let them go. He wanted them to be happy. It was his job to keep them content, but he couldn't bring their families to the camp. It was also his job to keep them safe. But he'd make sure they were watched over as they fled. When he made them happy or saw them beaming with joy, it really made him feel happy as well.

He just hoped that he could see them again, and if not, then he hoped that they'd at least leave him with something to remember them by.

if you be my boat

I'll be your sea

a depth of pure blue just to probe curiosity

ebbing and flowing and pushed by a breeze

I live to make you freeI live to make you free

but you can set sail to the west if you want to

and past the horizon till I can't even see you

far from here where the beaches are wide

just leave me your wake to remember you by

The men watched as their commanding officer pour himself some coffee. He didn't seem to receive much mail from home. The Germans always suspected him over everyone else. So the most mail he got was often from himself with holes in the letters.

He always had so much responsibility. How he was able to continue and not lose his patience was a mystery but truly admirable. They knew they would never have another commanding officer like him ever again. He was one of a kind. No doubt he wanted to go home eventually.

They cared very much about him but they knew that they would have to let him go. For his own happiness, they'd have to let him go. They wouldn't really be able to stop him, but they would only hope that in the end he'd change his mind or at least leave them something to remember him by.

I don't know what has gotten into me today… I seem to be writing only song fics…weird… oh well. Hope you liked. Song: Boats and Birds by Gregory and the Hawk.
