Just a one shot that I wrote a while ago on my phone and never got around to publishing, this one is inspired by the song Let Her Go. Tell me what you guys think about it!
Natsu sighed, walking around the empty room. It was dark, as if a grey film had been cast on his vision. He put his hands in his pockets, looking out the window.
So many memories had happened in this apartment. This was the place Natsu first hung out with Lucy, the first time he had seen her use her magic. The first time he had seen her actually happy and not covering her pain. The first time he had seen her peaceful form sleeping.
The first time she had taken care of him when he was sick, the first time he held her.
He had all but actually lived here for the last few years, always wanting to be around her. Now the world seemed duller, colder and less friendly.
How had he not realized how perfect everything was with her?
He had learned so much about her in this apartment, had learned so much about himself in this apartment. Learned so much about himself with her.
Everyone at the guild was right. He was a damned idiot. He had never been deaf to the whispers when he was around his partner.
He had just chuckled and shook it off. He didn't think he would ever feel that way for her. He thought he had all the time in the world. She'd never stray from his side. He had been sure of that.
He had been so wrong.
He moved around, standing where her bed had been, ignoring the tears that ran down his cheeks without his permission.
He couldn't believe it. He hadn't realized just how much she meant to him. How could he have let her go?
He knew now, for sure. He loved her. He loves her. She was his everything. And now...his everything was gone.
He hadn't slept properly in a week, his appetite had all but vanished. His own flames seemed duller. He had nothing to protect or get fired up over. Even a challenge from Gray didn't capture his attention. Lucy was gone, off to live with the man he hadn't been for her. He wanted to call her back, tell her how desperately in love he was with her, how much he needed her.
She had told him she was leaving. And he hadn't fought...he had let her go.
How could he let her go? Nothing was the same. Not the guild, not missions and certainly not his life. How could he be so stupid? He felt like he was in Edolas again. Trapped in a different reality without magic. But this time it was without her. He preferred Edolas. Why?
Because in this world...he had let her go.
