A few notes: Longest poem I have ever written. Really hard to write. 'Nough said.
From the brink of terror
Is where my father brought me-
And my planet, my sister-
Our family was left in the dust.
He had more important things to do
Then care for us,
So we work, too,
To stay true and just
While being raised
By my father's friends
Through a young age.
And then we were ten-
And we met Tahl.
We admired her, above all.
She knew how we felt
She knew how it seemed
She said it wasn't fair
That life was so mean.
I think she was right-
Do you know why?
A few years passed
When Allana started to cry.
She said she felt like a liar,
But she couldn't say why.
Once and for all we weren't like our father.
We didn't try to lead-
We didn't bother
Because we never intended
To surpass him.
Then it came to me-
Just on a whim.
Who said we had to do things fairly?
"Look at father,
Look at our 'family,'
We don't have one,
Because it's about politics now.
I say we get what we deserve –
And I know how."
I told her so much
And she listened, intent,
At the time, I didn't know what her strange smile
Really meant.
But she took my plan
And made it her own,
Said we'd be joint leaders
But in truth we stood alone.
She got the limelight
While I got the work, and I
Turned on those sick Jedi,
Even when it hurt.
I look at where my twin's gotten me.
I look at all the loss.
I search for some equal excuse-
But it's never worth the cost.
