The Beauty of Gray
Intro
The blazing fires roared, spitting hot black ash in the face of humanity. The air stank of burning flesh, and rubber; the screams wove the air with tragedy. The world was coming to an end.
Not six months after the fires, the U.S government was back;, but different. The leaders were more determined to make what was left of the country, a perfect union. Driven buy their own selfish intentions, they re-wrote the constitution. Creating a perfect utopia. All rights were striped, and feelings were banned, all creatively and individuality was shunned. With the new construction came a completely new government. The United States of America was now the Better Living Ind. states were now divided by zones, and brainwashing drugs were administrated throughout the survivors. The ARMY was different too, the Soldiers were in organized units of draculoids, and Generals are highly trained Exterminators. As the ashes smoldered, the seeds of rebellion germinated in secret.
Chapter 1
"Kevin!"
The voice of a young woman rang in my ears, until the bittersweet darkness washed over me.
I woke up on something cold, a sharp sting clawed at the inside of my nose. A bright white light raked at what little conscience I had left.
"Are you awake now?" asked a monotone female voice. I choked on my words, it was hard to speak.
"Yes," I barely whispered, "I am."
"Good, they would like to ask you some questions now if your feeling up to it." I nodded.
"Yes."
"They will be in shortly." The tap of her shoes departed soon after. I let out a sigh, I realized how bad I felt. My head was heavy and my chest burned and itched at the same time, my legs felt numb, and my clammy fingers rubbed the cold smooth surface I was on. I couldn't remember a thing about myself or were I was, all knew was the letter 'K' was important. I heard the sharp click of high heals step into the room.
"I'm glad to see you better now.'' I opened my eyes and looked to the left. A Japanese woman with a black bob hair cut, and bright red lips beamed down at me.
"Their was something wrong with me?" I asked confused. Her face made a expiration of wonder.
"You mean you don't know?"
"I don't feel good, but-"
"You just had surgery! Half of your brain was reconstituted, and your heart was replaced with a machine."
I laid their shocked. I was fine, I was normal! Its weird I didn't remember anything about me or my past but, I am okay! I thought to myself.
"I'm like a cyborg now?" I choked in disbelief.
"What is your name?" the woman asked, putting her hand to her mouth tracing her jaw bone.
" I don't know. All I remember is that the letter 'K' is important to me."
"Maybe your old name started with a 'K'."
"Maybe…" I thought aloud.
"How about Kreg?" she shrugged. I shook my 'NO'
"Something, with a better ring to it,'' I paused for a moment, "Korse." I grinned.
" Okay fine," she sighed, "How do you want it spelled?"
"K, O, R, S, E."
"Okay you'll be moved into a better room, and once your fully functional you'll start your training."
"Training?" I muttered.
She just walked out of the room without another word.
