One-Shot: The Silence

Andre 'Cipher' Frazier - 'Demon Lord of the Round Table'

Andre Frazier knelt at the base of an old oak. The light of the setting sun filtering through the leaves basking him in a soft glow. In front of him, at the old tree's base lay a stone plaque, an old Pilot's Helmet with a purple heart next to a red and grey logo depicting a demonic entity.

He let out a soft sigh as he ran his hand along the edge of the plaque. "Hey kid." He said as he slowly sat down next to the tree, looking out past the old tree towards the dam, a place of that had seen one the greatest aerial fights to take place in the last 27 years. A place that had seen the end of a battle between brothers.

"Tim's turning out to be just like you ya' know…A real chip of the old block. Cocky, arrogant and just wont shut up." He said with a sad smile.

"But he's also a great pilot. Fierce and unforgiving, but also, Loyal and compassionate and a good leader…An Ace…Well not yet, but he's got the makings of one."

"I think he might give Kei a run for her money! They have something you know…everyone can see it except them…the knuckleheads…"he laughed softly.

"Look at me, supposed 'Demon of the Round Table', getting all sappy about a brewing romance. You'd probably annoy the hell out of me…Nah…You'd do worse…Lil' bum."

He sighed as he eyed the old helmet, his old scared face reflected in its cracked visor. The initials 'PJ' scrawled messily across the top. He reached out and picked it up, adjusting it in his hands so he stared at it directly.

"You know…I keep asking myself…why'd you do it? Why would you want to fly with me of all people? Hell I never spoke a word to you or anyone!" He said out loud. "Why'd you take the hit for me?"

A lone tear streaked down his face and landed on the old helmet. He received no answer, but the slight breeze that softly blew against him, ruffling the leaves and blowing his shaggy blonde hair lightly.

Wiping the trail the tear left behind he placed the old helmet down before standing up.

"Goodbye kid…"he said as he walked away. The silence returning to Avalon once more…
