Except for a young rookie cop, Catherine was alone at the crime scene. She'd been called out of bed to be there by Grissom on a 419, which irritated her even more because he hadn't even bothered to show up. The crime scene was at a small local drug store which to Catherine looked like it belonged in the 50's, with its simple color scheme and old fashioned 'Pharmacy' sign. The windows were smashed in and there was glass everywhere, so Catherine had to step carefully as to not break any.

"I thought this was a 419," Catherine called over to the Greg-like police officer once she was at the counter.

"I think the guy's in isle 2. I get a bit sick when I look at the bodies, so I didn't really look down that isle, but that's where the other officer told me he was at."

"Hmm. Where'd he, or she, go?"

"He; I'm not really sure actually…he just said he had some other stuff to take care of."

"He shouldn't leave you at a crime scene alone, no matter how empty it may seem. What's his name?" Catherine asked. After what happened to Holly, she wasn't going to stand for an older cop that should know better leaving anyone alone in the field, especially a rookie.

Catherine walked past each isle, surveying each one carefully and taking pictures of anything she thought might be on interest. Like the officer, she wasn't exactly eager to rush towards a dead body.

"Officer? It's okay, you can tell me his name, you won't get in any kind of trouble," Catherine asked as she walked slowly down the isles while taking her pictures, step by step approaching isle 2.

No answer.

"Officer?" she called across the pharmacy. Again there was no answer. Suddenly there an exploding crash and Catherine sprinted all the way to isle 2 instinctively.

"OFFICER?!" She shouted as she saw the sight before her. The young officer was slumping on the floor of the isle, blood gushing out of his stomach and mouth. Someone had cut out his tongue and then stabbed him multiple times in the abdomen. As she stared she regrettably saw that the corners of his mouth had also been cut open, Joker style. Catherine was frozen, unable to move or help the officer in any way. He looked up at her with a look of horror in his eyes and tried to say something when Catherine felt something large and blunt hit her on the back side of her head. She went spiraling to the floor, dazed and confused as a large and obviously muscular man caught her and slammed her over his shoulder, apparently thinking she was completely knocked out. Though she was dizzy, she wasn't dizzy enough not to fight him. Thoughts of Lindsey and her mother and her job went spiraling through Catherine's head before she bit down as hard as she could on the exposed part of the large mans neck, drawing blood.

"AHHH!!" The man roared in pain and tossed Catherine on the ground. Her head hit it with a hard thud, sending her mind spinning again. She was so dazed that she didn't even see his boot coming at her stomach, so when it hit Catherine her wind was knocked out completely. She curled into fetal position, pain surging through her body. DON'T SCREAM , THAT'S JUST WHAT HE WANTS TO HEAR! Catherine thought to herself as another blow came her way. He kicked her even harder, trying to force the scream that he longed to ring in his ears. Catherine felt several ribs crack at the third blow.

"Scream bitch! Scream!" He shouted at her as he grabbed her by the hair and slapped her hard on the face, leaving a nasty mark. She tried to keep it in but couldn't anymore as she screamed and yelped in pain, clawing at his hands which had a tight hold over her strawberry blond hair.

"Good," was all he said before he knocked her out completely with one last blow to the head.
