-Take your daughter to work day. Well, I must admit it seems bloody pointless to have so many children running around- Wheatley thought to himself as he zipped along on his rail, looking at the girls running about and getting their projects ready.
-So many bloody potato batteries!- he thought, rolling his optic at them. It seemed almost every child had done a potato battery, except one girl who made a volcano.
Lost in his thoughts, he came to a stop near a project by a girl with dark hair who was eating something round and red. Looking down at her, he puzzled over what it was. Upon noticing him, the girl smiled and peeled the sticker off it, reaching up and placing it on his hull, to the right of his optic.
"...what is that, exactly?" he asked, his curiosity a bit more sparked now that he had a sticker on him.
"Apple!" came her enthusiastic reply. Looking over at her prohect quickly, he could see her name was 'Chell', and stored that away in his memory.
"Oh I quite like that one-Apple." he mused, lifting his lower optic into a sort of smile. "How would you use that in a sentance?"
"This apple is crunchy" she replied, smiling as she took another bite.
Starting to reply, Chell and all the other girls were all distracted by the scientist calling for everyone's attention, as the GLaDOS project was about to be turned on for the first time.
~~ "Come on,this way!" he called franticly, shooting along the rail as Chell ran after him, coughing on the neurotoxins that had leaked into the hallway. He was thankful that at least one of the girls had been close to the door, and that he had found stasis chambers earlier that week. At the very least he could save her.
~~ He knew it was her when he found her all those years later, after GLaDOS was dead and Aperture had sunk into decay. It was obvious she didn't recognize him though, and he did his best to act as though she was a random choice, the only one left.
But he knew she was alive for a reason, and he knew she was the only one who couldescape, even if others were alive and well.
He always knew she would fight in the end, and would never give up.
