AN: Random idea that popped into my head one day as I was think about Katie, and how Demeter kids aren't really mentioned. Which I think is weird, because their abilities are FREAKING awesome.

The battle raged on around Manhattan. Percy frantically searched for Annabeth as he raced towards the Empire State Building. Relief washed over him as he spotted her near the entrance and fought his way over. Quickly, he explained that they needed to get up to Olympus, and fast. Grabbing each others hands, as not to get separated by the tide of the battle around them, they were heading through the doorway when Katie Gardner appeared beside them.

"Your not trying to use the elevator, are you? It's been destroyed. The Hephaestus cabin said completely inoperable." Katie explained, whirling and dispatching an enemy with surprising ease.

Percy's face fell, and it was obvious Annabeth's brain was spinning, trying to figure out a solution.

"Why do you need-BEHIND YOU!"

Annabeth ducked just in time and managed to take out a dracaenae.

"Katie, we have a. A.. Well a sort of plan. And it involves getting up to there." Annabeth explained.

"Right. Well, a sort of plan is better then what we have right now. I suppose you can't get into specifics?" She asked.

They both shook their heads, and Percy said, " We don't want to get hopes up if it doesn't work, and it's on of those plans that are so crazy they just might work."

"Well, think you can break through one of those windows near the top?" she asked.

"I suppose, but the pegisi are gone." Percy said.

"Percy, Percy, Percy. You don't need a Pegasus. You've got me."

"What are you talking about?"

"Speaking of crazy plans, I got one that'll take the cake." Katie grins.

She pulled them around the corner, to an empty street on the side of the building. Kicking off her shoes and socks, she scrunched her toes down in the grass and squeezed her eyes shut.

Annabeth broke the silence with a giggle.

Irritably, Katie glared at her. "Dude, trying to concentrate here."

"Um. On…WHAT, exactly?"

"Oh, you'll see."

Katie shut her eyes again, and began "concentrating".

Percy and Annabeth looked at each other in disbelief.

"Katie, we don't have time for a joke-"

Suddenly, the tip of a very large stalk broke through the thin soil of the flowerbed. Katie smiled and gave a little grunt of frustration. The growth increased quickly and in a very short time, the hearty stalk was eight feet tall.

Katie opened her eyes and said, "Well, hop on. We don't have all day!" with a teasing grin.

"Did. Did you just do what I think you did?" Annabeth asked, unbelievingly.

Percy, however, was not so polite.

"A BEANSTALK? Hell yes, Katie!"

They clambered on, and both made sure to grip on tightly.

"Thank you so much Katie, you're a genius!" exclaimed Percy.

"No biggie. You don't even KNOW how long I've waited for an excuse to do that! Psht, and they say children of Demeter have no sense of humor." Katie replied, as the beanstalk grew taller and taller.

Within minutes, Percy and Annabeth were at the top, and able to break and window and get inside.

Brushing dirt off her feet and slipping back into her shoes, Katie grinned and headed back around the corner to rejoin the battle.

Endnote: What do you guys think? I would definitely wanna be a child of Demeter. Who would you want your godly parent to be if you were a halfblood? Please review!
