Standing in front of one of the windows in the bridal room, Bree looked out towards where her friends and family sat while they waited for her to make her way towards where she would soon become someone's wife. The sound of a throat being cleared made her turn from the window, only to see her older brother standing in the doorway. Their gazes met and briefly held before Bryan entered the room.

"Wow, sis. You look beautiful," Bryan said softly.

Bree smiled at her brother's compliment and moved towards where he stood.

"Thanks, Bryan. And it was nice of you to offer to walk me down the aisle," she replied.

"I sense there's a 'but' coming."

"But dad should have been the one to walk me down the aisle today."

Bryan frowned.

"I know I'm not dad, Bree, but since he's not here to walk you down the aisle, I'm the next best choice for that task."

"I know you are, big brother and I appreciate that. But it's not the same without mom and dad being here for my wedding day, you know?"

Bree's wedding dress swished over the floor as she walked away from Bryan and resumed her prior place in front of the window before she moved the curtain aside so she could look outside. Bryan joined her at the window and he too looked out towards where their family and Bree's friends were seated.

"I know it's been ten years since mom and dad died, but I really wish they could've been here for my wedding day," Bree admitted and she felt the prickle of tears in her eyes.

"Me too, little sister. Me too," Bryan said.

Bree blinked away her tears before they ruined her makeup and turned away from the window a second time before she grabbed her wedding bouquet and looped one arm through her brother's arm. Their gazes met and they each grinned at each other before they left the bridal room together.
