"What?" he asked. Lili grinned.
"Haunting In Connecticut," she replied. "It's another horror vid, but it's supposedly really scary from what Kasumi told me. Want to watch?" she continued. "I also have some others that Kasumi told me were scary or creepy or worse." She paused. "Resident Evil is nothing compared to this, apparently. Well, so says the thief. Then there's Rec and Halloween."
"All right," he sighed. They were good movies, sure, but some of them did get a bit creepy. Humans liked such weird things.
"You don't have to. It's just that after last time ended well and it gets both of us out of talking to Kelly."
"Both are upsides," Garrus agreed.
"Yeah, she's making her weekly rounds," Lili added, starting to walk towards the elevator. Her omni-tool faded as she stepped in with him. It was silent as the elevator went up. The doors opened and Lili spoke.
"Thank you."
"For what?" he questioned, again confused.
"For watching the vids with me. Usually watch them alone and all; it's nice to be with somebody. They do scare me a bit sometimes, not many do that," she explained.
"It's no problem. They are good. How many vids do you have?"
"They made tons. I like the zombie ones. Dance Of The Dead is good. Dead Snow creeped me the hell out. DeadGirl is one we can watch tonight. Haven't watched it. Serial Mom is quite funny, not so much horror as comedy." She paused and stepped into her room. "EDI, start up Dead Girl. Then have ZombieLand ready with Haunting In Connecticut last."
"Of course Commander," the AI said, a holoscreen appearing in her cabin. Lili beckoned Garrus in, then closed and locked the door.
"In case Kelly comes knocking." she explained, turning and walking over to the couch after grabbing some wine like always. "My classic signature," she added. "Sorry if I babble on. The wound that the mercs gave me the other day isn't healed yet. Smaller now, but the meds Chakwas gave me haven't worn off." She poured two glasses.
"It's fine," he assured her. Meds did that to a person, no matter who they were.
"Yeah." She sighed, gripping the bottom of her shirt and taking it off her head. A clean, white cloth was wrapped around her chest. "The Krogan did a number one me," she added, trying to smile, but it came out as a grimace.
"Aren't the cybernetics supposed to help heal you quicker?" he asked.
"Yes, but this time they didn't. I'm fine, really," she responded, picking up the glass. Lili looked over at the holoscreen then back to him and gritted her teeth. "Fuck, I give up. It hurts like hell," she admitted, hanging her head in defeat. Nothing hurt her, but the cut seemed to burn like it was on fire. She felt a hand on her shoulder.
"The meds will help," Garrus tried. Lili lifted her head and gave him a hug, ignoring the pain in her chest.
"They will, sure," she said, voice muffled by his clothing. "But not as much as being with somebody I care about." She took a deep breath. "And if any of this is pressure, tell me and I'll lay off."
"No pressure," he assured her, running a hand down her back. Lili's lips curved into a smile. So sweet and comforting; he helped her so much. Garrus understood her because he knew more about her then anybody else, and vice-versa. So much trust between them...it made her smile when she thought how much they could trust each other, what good friends they were.
She was happy knowing that she had friends to turn to, and a lover to spend her time with.
