A/N: I don't know where this idea came from, but it is pretty cute.
Regina had been living in her small Boston apartment for about 6 months now, and had yet to meet her neighbor. Sure, she'd seen her a couple of times in the corridor, but they'd never actually talked. Sometimes their mail would get mixed up, and they'd have to switch it, but that was it. Because Emma Swan was ridiculously hot, and Regina Mills got ridiculously nervous around hot women.
It was around 11:30 when Regina stumbled home and kicked off her 4-inch heels from the work day. All she wanted to do was to sleep, but as she walked past Emma's door, she heard some music blaring from her neighbors house, meaning that it'd be hard to fall asleep tonight. When she had changed into more comfortable clothing and grabbed a cup of chamomile tea, she tried to decipher what music her blonde neighbor was playing. After a few minutes of listening, she realized it was The Phantom of the Opera. How interesting, she thought. I didn't peg Emma as a musical fan. Soon enough, the telltale blast of the title song came on, and Regina heard Emma squeal like a child. She chuckled under her breath. Once Christine's part came on, a beautiful voice filled both of their apartments, as Emma had begun to sing the soprano's part. Regina smiled softly. Emma's voice was beautiful. The brunette knew the whole musical by heart, so when the Phantom's part came on, she began to sing for him. Emma went silent, listening to Regina, if the woman had to guess.
"Sing once again with me, our strange duet," Regina sang, only a little higher than the original pitch. Her voice had always been low, for her petite size. "My power over you grows stronger yet. And though you turn from me, to glance behind. The Phantom of the Opera is there, inside your mind."
"Those who have seen your face, draw back in fear," Emma sang back. Regina laughed, surprised that she had even decided to sing with her neighbor, and through the walls no less. "I am the mask you wear,"
"It's me they hear."
The two women sang beautifully, their contrasting voices melding perfectly into into one. "My spirit and thy voice, in one combined. The Phantom of the Opera is there, inside your mind." They continued the duet, and when it finished, Emma had turned the music off. Not even a full minute later, there was a knock at Regina's door. She put down her teacup and went to answer it, finding Emma in front of it, smiling brightly.
"You're…You're a really good singer." Emma said quietly. Regina smiled back at the blonde.
"Thank you. You do as well," She said. "Would you…would you like to come in? We can watch the movie if you want." Emma seemed to grow just a little bit more comfortable at the stunning brunette's words.
"Yeah, if you don't mind." Emma said and bit her lip anxiously. Regina opened the door wider, allowing Emma to walk in. This is going to be a fun night, Regina thought as she closed the door.
