Author's note: This takes place in the same universe as Aro through your hearts. It also takes a few months after Oblivion.

Matt never really dated anyone. The rest of the five and Holly were just his friends. There was currently no romance between any of them and Matt. Besides the aforementioned people, there was no one who Matt was close with and was in his age group.

That was until he met Garret.

Flashback to January eight of that year, go to a park and you would find Matt suffering from PTSD. There was nobody around that he knew and holy shit, panic attacks sucked.

That's when Garret entered the scene. "Are you alright?" That was his very first words to Matt.

Matt shook his head furiously.

Garret knelt down and put his hand on Matt's shoulder to ground him. "Breathe with me." Garret guided Matt through the breathing techniques till he was calm.

"Thanks." Matt muttered.

"No problem. I'm Garret by the way." Garret threw up a quick peace sign. Matt took a good look at him now that his mind was clear.

Garret had medium brown skin with curly black hair. His eyes were a dark brown and acne covered his forehead. His body was slightly pudgy and tall.

Matt realized he had been staring for longer than what's considered socially acceptable when Garret waved his hand up close to Matt's face and said, "Earth to...whatever your name is."

"Matt." Matt blurted. "My name is Matt."

"Nice to meet you, Matt. Do you want to do something later." Garret asked, finally standing up.

"Sure." Matt brushed the dirt off his jeans after standing up. " When exactly?"

Garret shrugged. " Whenever you're available."

" I'm available right now."

Garret grinned. " I'd like to take you out for dinner before we get to that stage. But how does next Tuesday sound?"

Matt gave a thumbs up. "Sounds great. I'll see you then."

The two gave their goodbyes before parting. Matt had already walked a few feet away from the park by the time he realized what Garret meant by that dinner comment. Matt rolled his eyes at the thought of it. He wouldn't lie; Matt liked the idea of having a friend or significant other that didn't live with him.
