Because it had to be done. I own nothing. Review please. Takes place before "Long way til morning"
It had been a successful night at Tiana's Palace and they were begining to close up. Everyone had left, with the exception of Louis, Naveen and Tiana. At least, that's what they thought. Little did they know Facilier was hiding in the corner, watching them silently. Taking a break, Tiana sat down.
"Don't exert yourself," Naveen told his wife. "Not when you are carrying the future heirs of Maldonia!" Tiana laughed.
"You will have the cutest little babies," Louis said excitedly. The gator then sighed and looked up sadly. "It's a shame Ray couldn't be here." Naveen stopped smiling and looked down solemly. Tiana did the same. Facilier noticed the change and cleared his throat, drawing attention to himself.
"Excuse me," he said, as he walked over to them, "but if y'all don't mind me asking; who's Ray?" The three friends watched him coldly.
"Ray," Tiana said through grit teeth, "was the kindest soul in all of the bayou. He, he..." she stopped talking, unable to continue.
"He was the firefly you crushed," Naveen finished for his wife, stalking towards Facilier.
"Oh," he said. "Is that what y'all are upset about, me squishing some bug?" Louis growled as Tiana stood up.
"He wasn't 'some bug' Shadowman," she said. "And he had more right to live than you do." Facilier put his hand to his chest, feigning hurt.
"You cut me deep, chere," he said. "Do you really care so little about me?"
"Actually I don't care about you," she said, "because of what you did." Louis sniffed sadly.
"At least Ray is with Evangeline," he said. Facilier looked at the gator confused.
"I hate to ask, but who's Evangeline?" He said. Naveen glared at him.
"Evangeline," he said, "is The Evening Star, and Ray's girl." Facilier cocked an eyebrow.
"I thought y'all just told me Ray was dead?" he said.
"After you crushed him," Tiana said. "Ray became a star. He's the one right next to Evangeline." Facilier smiled cruelly.
"So the bug fell in love with a star?" He said. "Maybe it was better than that I killed him. Poor thing was obviously delusional." Once he finished talking Naveen's fist hit him in the side of the mouth. Facilier fell to the floor, blood filling his mouth. He wiped the blood from his chin and stood up.
"What the hell was that for?" He demanded. Naveen went to punch him again but this time Facilier ducked and grabbed Naveen's fist.
"Dont' talk about Ray like that!" The prince said, try to get free. "You didn't know him, you heartless monster!" Facilier let go of Naveen's fist.
"Now that did hurt," he said, narrowing his gaze. He stepped away. "Y'all think you're so pure, so good. How about I put your back to a wall and see how noble you can be. I'm not proud of what I had to do, but the 'Fiends' didn't give me too many options." He looked at Tiana. "Your friend probably did deserve to live more than me, but I wasn't about to sacrifice myself for someone I didn't know." He looked at the group, all of whom were regarding him coldly.
"I think you should leave," she said. Facilier looked at her and shrugged.
"If you wish," he said. he turned and walked out of the door. As he walked back to his emporium he dared to glance up. Sure enough, there was another star next to The Evening Star. Feeling slightly uneasy, he already had shadow beings after him, the last thing he needed was a fight with an angry light spirit, he headed home a little faster.
It had to be done. Note: as I was writing this I noticed a typo that I decided to keep in on purpose. Guess what it is.
