Savior
By Tately E DeLaure
Unknown of all danger, Sophie lived a normal life, no most would thing been the daughter of the hearth would make her well known to monsters. Most Demigods would think of Sophie as weak, as a nobody. But unknown to them that this girl, this small red head was to be their Savior someday.
I just finished putting my clothes into the clothe, nothing made sense to me, but instead of complaining like some snot nose brat, I was taking this move with a grain of salt. My father is an archaeologist, and until now I lived in England with a nanny and his uncle. But my father lived in California, he was a professor at a university, but for some reason he never wanted anything to do with me.
I throw myself onto my bed before picking up my phone, and looked at the time. 7:48 pm back home in York it was 3:49 am, and if I was still there I would be on a train to the city, on my way to school for the day. I went to the best property in the county. I looked at the photo of my best mates back in London, Annalisa and Kathrine Rodriguez. They were identical twins, but they had two totally different personality. Annalisa was book smart and Kathrine was street smart. I know that if I had a question with homework, I went to Annalisa and if I'm backed into a comer Kathrine always came running to my aid.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when my phone started to go off. It was Annalisa calling to check in on me.
"Hey Annalisa, how are you?" I asked
"I'm good Sophie, and by the way you are on speaker, so that all three of us can chat." Annalisa said. I could hear so much noise on the other end, were they still at summer camp. I turn up a song from my radio, that and I know that my father was in the next room working. I had a bad habit of going into an yorky.
"You're still at summer camp this year?" I asked flipping around my bed.
"Yeah we are. Our mum and dad are sending us to a school here in America..." Kathrine started saying
"Kathy and Anna come on, time to get going." their mum's voice drifted over the line.
"Hello Mrs. Rodriguez." I said.
"Oh Sophie, how are you?" Mrs. Rodriguez asked. For the next hour and half me and the twins were talking. I only stopped when my father came in and told me that it was time for to get off of the phone and to get ready for bed. I looked at him in disbelief, it was only 9:15. My bed time wasn't until nearly four in the morning, when I get to the Rodriguez house hold. When my father come into the room a second time, I was reading a book in my evening grown. He didn't look to happy, that I was still awake but he know that he couldn't say anything seeing as he never took any part in raising me. He was about to leave when my alarm went off.
"Normally I would be riding the train into London from our home. Great uncle didn't believe in me staying at the school so at the begin of the week I would ride the train in and stay with my best mates until Friday night." I said turning my alarms off. I used to take three trains twice a week. I worked on the weekends to help pay for my train tickets. While I stayed with the Rodriguez I help with the cooking and cleaning.
"While it's time for bed. I got the day off tomorrow and thought me and you can go shopping for school supplies." He said sitting in my desk chair. I got up and pulled out my ruck sack from the wardrobe.
"All my school supplies is in here. Me and my nanny went before I came here." I said, putting it back in the wardrobe.
"Then what about clothes, no Emily would make sure that you have everything needed for school." He said getting up from my desk chair. I guess he had some part of my upbringing, but it was a very small part. I crawled back into bed, and picked at the red frames on the bride of my nose. The need of them have always gotten to me, but my nanny said that they would help my eyes sight, which thanks to all the times that I worked so late into the night on my laptop in the dark. I picked my free read up off of the coverlet and started to read where I left off. I looked up when my father turned the lights out. He really didn't know that I was a night owl. I grabbed my flash light off of the post on my bed and started reading again. When it got around two in the morning I put my book away and curl up under the coverlet. Emily had come with me yesterday afternoon, but she lefted this morning. So when six in the morning came around I was up and getting ready for my morning run. I had on my yoga pants and a tank top, with my jacket tried around my waist. I was tiring my shoes when a very handsome guy ran up our drive way. He wasn't paying attention but luckily I had fast reflexes and jumped out of the way just before he would run into me.
"Hey watch where you're going next time." The guy said. I got up and brushed the dirt off of my pants.
"Maybe next time you should watch were you're going. Because last time I know this is a private neighborhood, and this is my house." I said, remembering how Kathrine deal with pits like this guy.
"Sorry, I'm looking professor Castellan. I take his summer classes, but most mornings I go running with him." He said rubbing the back of his neck.
"Believable story, but when I invited my father to join me this morning he said that he doesn't run. " I said going still yorky. He was starting to tick me off, I might not have been as smart as Annalisa but I wasn't second in my class for nothing.
"Oh Sophie I thought that you had already left. But since your here, I'll introduce you two. Sophie this is one of my high school students Luca. Luca this is my beloved daughter Sophie."father said coming out in runner gear. I pouted at them both before turning on my heels and starting off. To say I hadn't been thinking straight was an understatement this was a new route for me and I was one of the few people in this world that had a photographic memory but, that doesn't help when I don't know my surrounding. I some how ended up and a park where there was a burnt house. From the plaque it was know as the wolf house and burnt down in the early morning one day in the mid 1900. The man and woman that lived there had died.
"Ms, you looked lost, can I help you?" A woman about my dad's age asked.
"No I was just looking for a new running route. You see I just moved here a couple days ago from York England." I told her holding my hands up. She was a pretty lady with braided chopped brown hair. In the braid was an eagle feather, her skin was tanned and deep. Her eyes though had no effect on me, though they were three different colors.
"Hey Piper over here... Oh and who is this young lady?" A blonde hair man asked jogging over to where we were talking.
"Jason, you join the others, I'm just giving Ms Castellan some directions to her house. She last her way, but that understandable as she just moved here." Mrs Grace said, before handing me the paper she had written everything on. By the time I got home, I was sweaty and ready to dropped dead where I stood. I kept getting lost.
"Father I'm home." I called from the front door. No answer but half the time I think he doesn't remember that I am a live. In my fourteen years every time that I call him he is to busy to talk with me. I can some times understand why after all he always had a lot of students, but not even calling on your child's birthday is total unacceptable.
I went to the kitchen to get a glass of water, when I saw the note on the island.
'Sophie, had an emergency meeting. Be home later. Lucas aunt will be over by two to get you behave.- love dad.
I balled the note up in anger before throwing it away. I took a quick look at the clock and saw that I had time to take a shower. The note said two it was only 1:05 and that gave me enough time to eat and shower if I wanted. The shower yes, the food no.
I know almost nothing about these people but here I was waiting at 1:55 for this lady to show up. I was sitting in my swing in my room when a strange car pulled up into the drive way.
"Sophie, you here." Luca called coming up the stairs. I pushed back on the wall and waved at him. At first my father had been against the swing, but Emily reminded him of the fact that I was still a child. A sophomore, but still a child. He still said no until Emily threaten to take me back York with her, than he gave in and let me put my swing up.
"Nice lay out and cool a swing. But that's not important right now. Me and my aunt are here to get you. Put something nice on we're going to a diner party." Luca said before leaving. I looked down at what I was wearing what was nicer than my former school uniform. But I didn't fight him and got up and change into a dress. I ended up picking a vintage black lace turtle neck with out sleeves. Nothing else said diner party that I wanted not to be at. I was putting my black kitten heels on when Luca came back up stairs trying to tire his tie. I finished with my shoes before slapping his hands away so that I could do his tie.
"My former school uniform include a tie that we had to wear, so I got to learn when I was younger." I said finishing his tie. I turn away when I noticed how close to him I really was, I tapped my heel before moving to get a necklace out of my box. I picked a Ruby choker. I wore it everywhere except while running, this was the only thing I had left of my mother. But because it was a dinner party I've pulled my hair into a neat bun. I was struggling with the clasp before someone took it and hooked it around my skinny neck.
"Thanks for helping with my tie."Luca said rubbing his neck.
"No problem, and thanks for the help with my necklace." I said.
"Luca, Sophie come down so I can see what you look like." a lady's voice called. I cussed before, turning and leaving my room. Luca was right behind me. The lady was very pretty, her white dress offsetting her deep tan and dark hair and eyes. She looks just like Luca except for the fact that his eyes were lighter, and he had red high lights.
"Aunt Reyna this is Sophie Castellan, Sophie this is my aunt Reyna Avila Ramirez-Arellano. And before you ask, Cuban." he said. I looked at him confused, what did Cuba have to do with anything.
"what does Cuba have to do with anything?" I asked, pulling at the turtle neck of my dress. I love the dress on Annalisa but the lace neck drives me up a wall.
"I'm from Cuba." Ms Ramirez-Arellano said trying to fix my collar. She was tall, maybe five nine, I'm not sure, but it would explain why Luca was so tall. That or I am just really short.
I looked around the living room when I spotted a photo that I though I'd burn years ago. it was a photo of my when I was five, and weigh over 120 lbs.
"He must of kept it as reminder of what I went through." I said more to myself than anyone else.
"Sophie what are you talking about?" Luca asked snapping me out of my trance. I looked up, and was about to say something when my cell phone went off.
"Hey Annalisa." I said leaning on the fireplace.
"Damn I forgot you have personalised ringtones for us. Oh by the way what are you going to do about bullies. I know that it was hard for you before you lived in England." she said.
"Annalisa, we both know that I've dealt with monsters stronger and smarter than Sadie Kane. Heck, I heard her grams and grandpa kicked her out, because of the way she always acts." I said before picking up the photo of me.
"I got to show you something give me a sec okay?" I said. I put my phone on video mode. only to see them both looking at me.
"Okay, so you both know that the first eight years of my life is unknown by anyone but me and my family doctor. While what people have always though to he a good life, with a dad who care is a lie. the truth is that I was bullied so bad..." I stopped myself, before I mention what had really happen to me when I was a kid.
"Sophie, if your not ready yet than don't. But before you go tell me who the huck of meat is." Kathy said. That girl sometimes, always full of something. Anna took her phone from her sister.
"Bye Sophie." She said.
